This winter, Team 1114 worked with a local community group to help establish a new school in Guatemala. Among our donations were some Team 1114 t-shirts, from our off-season event at Canada's Wonderland. These pictures are worth just as much as any trophy.

So you sent them tshirts???? What else what else??? Did you teach them about science and technology???
[Edit] Woops, I didn't realize that this could be taken the wrong way! I really am excited about this! (just on a sugar high...)

Candice.EThrough a local church our team found out about a project in Guatemala where people were making the effort to build a school and church. Our team didn't just send them the T-shirts from the Canada's Wonderland Off-season event. We recognized that Team 1114 could make a difference, by giving the oppertunity of a better education, so we collected and sent a large amount of school supplies.
On the science and technology front, through the church representitive, Del, we sent an information package about the FIRST program. Prior to leaving on his trip Del came to Governor Simcoe to spend time with the team and learn what Simbotics is all about. After he arrived, he spent time talking to the people there about the program and our team in general to give them a better understanding of some of the people who took the time to help them.
If any other teams would like to get involved with this effort, as it is run yearly, please contact me and I would be more than happy to share contact information.
