1618 at Palmetto

So I took all of seventeen photographs at Palmetto, of about four different things. This was a shot of us in queue for our first qualifying match of the day--nothing like the make-the-robot-seem-even-taller shot in the queue, right?

I'll pass the word on to our driver--you'd never know that he had (to my knowledge) driven the robot all of thirty seconds in the tile hallway of Columbia High before Thursday at lunch. We kept trying solution after solution for our arm to let us score instead of just defending match after match, but it just wouldn't go--we'll keep looking for the problem once the crate comes back to Columbia High. I'm just glad we could bring something better than average to the table for eleven out of twelve rounds.

I never even noticed just how many were visible in this picture until just now. We used the pegboard out of cost concerns--it was in the shop, and a 4x8 sheet can be had for under a Jackson--and the zip ties just worked beautifully with it for mounting pneumatics. The zip ties on the arm were the only quick mounting setup we could find for the cylinder we added on Thursday to provide a better grasp on tubes. (Big zip ties and split-open surgical tubing can be rather grippy. Who knew?)
