At BattleCry today Ken Stafford of WPI reminded us all about the special relationships we form as members of the FIRST family... and then, Andy popped the question!

HA! Yes, she said yes. It was a great speech, Andy was up since 4:30 this morning, was nervous as heck, but went through with it as planned, and Jess said yes.
His speech was very touching as well.
Those of us who knew it was going to happen (and some who didn't but realized what was happening when Andy asked Jess to come out on the field - About 8 of us at least...) have some video, and we'll try and get it uploaded soon.
Congratulations Jess & Andy!!!

I'd say wedding is next year -- the end of April is nice -- in, oh, say, Atlanta? Good news is you wouldn't have to send out invites for all your friends. Bad news, you'd have to order plenty of cake......

On another note: This takes that getting married on Einstein facebook group to a whole new level. Its already starting at OS events. I give it 2 years before FIRST starts booking Einstein for weddings during the lunch break. =)!

A BattleCry to remember for sure!! Seeing Andy and Jess afterwards there could be no doubting the response. Their happiness was infectious and pretty awesome to see.

Congratulations you two! I was sitting with my friend Ashley when Andy started talking and we pretty much figured out what was gonna happen. SO CUTE!
P.S. Sorry for that really loud 'awwwww' (which I know at least everyone at the top of the bleachers heard) after everyone stopped clapping...I just had to.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thanks to all of you for such a great weekend.
It was excelent to see so many people, and meet so many people whom I haven't met before this weekend. Props to people like Billfred, and all you crazy NJ'ites who made the trek up for BC. All the fun you guys provided at the gameshow on Friday night really helped my nerves for the weekend, and I thank you for it.
Also, special thanks to Ken Stafford and the WPI crew who allowed me to use their time and venue for this.

Once again, congratulations Jess and Andy!!
As some people already asked, "did she say yes?", I've actually got an inside scoop on the same question.
I was let in on this event a few hours prior so I could coordinate appropriate lighting and sound (I think we played "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago). So as we're all on the Clearcom headsets, the lighting guy was like "so I guess she said yes?". We had a good chuckle over that, but it was obvious she did, Andy was just respectful enough not to shove the mic in her face so no one actually heard her say "yes"

Mike from 1100 and I were sitting on the back side of the field, and we realized what was about to (finally) happen when Andy said he "met someone about 7 years ago"
Definitely made this one of the best BattleCry's yet. If only we have video from my perspective, that had to have been the loudest and longest standing ovation of the entire event.

If memory serves the season started with Amanda Morrison and JVN getting engaged and now as it comes to an end Andy and Jess follow suit, I suppose this was a pretty good year for FIRST engagements.

Let me also echo Andy's thank you!
It's seriously phenomenal that we had the chance to share a great moment in our lives with our favorite extended family.
What I find most hysterical are the stories surrounding it. You guys sure know how to spread news! We received calls from people in FL that heard via text message, PMs from California, and my facebook has been pummeled...it's all sorts of awesome.
It just reflects on how great each and every one of you are. The chance to spend time with all of you is worth every bit of time we put in.
Thanks to WPI and the BC8 staff for another fantastic event!

I think it was a very cool, exciting way to help end off the final matches of WPI BattleCry. It was a good time for me because of a wave of bad luck my team had in Manchester and Atlanta, but we won at BattleCry. This will help me to remember my first year of high school and my first year of robotics.
