Did you cut the shaft and re-thread it?

If so do you still get an appropriate preload when you toggle the cam? I would be worried about overloading an unthreaded length that long and causing plastic deformation.

FYI I am pro using bicycle parts on robots.

hey, I got that idea last year for our battery box, makes for quick battery changes!
