Go to Post I've been inspired for real engineering during the build season and on the playing field, but the inspiration I found in the pits is often for creative thinking and intuition. - artdutra04 [more]

Clever tensioners! How's the servo shifting working for you guys... we had to put in code to back off power to shift up (we're running the 4:1 upgrade).

thats exactly like our drive except were using toughbox instead

Its weird not seeing treads on the robot this year!

looks nice... cool tensioners too.

Warning about using the torsion springs from the large CIMs as tensioners. 116 had an iteration of our drive last year that used them, and apparently they are not as strong as we would initially believe. As the robot drove at high speeds, the spring would loosen, essentially to the point where they weren't even tensioning the chain at all. Once or twice our chain even popped off. Thus why the final iteration didn't use them.
Your mileage may vary.

They haven't yet tested the shifter. They will be programing it sometime in the next few days.

We have the ability to tension the spring as well.
