This is a teaser of our primary ball retention device.

Matt CWow Lexan, that's a first for you guys isn't it?

I don't know if that was a sarcastic statement, but I'll answer the non-sarcastic answer. Team 190 in 2002 built their robot almost completely out of lexan (I know this because at battlecry that year they got pulled in half and I helped fix it).
Looks good 190

Matt CI was a mentor on 190 those years. I just forgot my smiley.
I actually have a section of the 2k3 lexan "Wings of DOOM" in my office (it's really a cubicle).

Racer26Yeah... 190 '04 was definitely something to be marvelled at.
We competed with them at the Wonderland Invitational at Canada's Wonderland, Ontario, Canada. We won, with the assistance of 1241, and 1114. 1241's massive 5pt ball catching net, and amazing human player, and our flawless autonomous teamed up to score ridiculous points. I recall one match where 190 hung in autonomous and spread their lexan wings, and I think we just slammed our claw right on top of their wings, and hung anyway.

This wouldn't score you any points as you needed to be supported by the bar, and only the bar... see http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/17417
This was at the 2004 NJ Regional. In the semis (or quarters?) my team (#11, MORT) hung on team 237 (who could strafe back and forth on the bar). The referees deemed us not hanging because we were attached to them. |

Racer26I dont recall whether we were actually on top of their wings or if we'd managed to slide our claw under theirs... either way, I know we got the points, and it WAS a first year offseason event, so reffing might not have been 100% accurate.

Matt CLets not get on a tangent. I see a segmented upper claw with a window motor without window tape. I'm still trying to figure out the offsets on the pinned cross tubes. With the presence of the pot, I'm guessing this is an early picture of some sort of powered ball feeding device, an articulated upper arm to fit inside the starting configuration, or an elaborate ploy to avert our attention from their obvious anti-gravity CVT with onboard INS, GPS, and scented pine tree air freshener.
