This is the "Weighted Companion Joystick" from team 910. It's our driver's joystick for controlling the robot. Next to it you can see some of our other controls as well. The Companion Joystick has already made an appearance at Western Michigan, and is currently residing at the Great Lakes Regional. It is topped off with a replica GLaDos eye that glows during use.
You will be baked, and there will be cake.

CaseyKasem_1251That is by far one of the coolest controllers I have seen, Definitely deserves the innovation in control award.
BTW The cake is a lie.

Dan PetrovicGood luck to you at competition!
As you know, there's no sense crying over every mistake
you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake.

I had the funniest moment early this morning at about 4 AM, when I was still awake reading the book Growing Up in order to have it finished for my 20th Century History course today. (I actually read the entire book in six hours, from 2AM to 8AM).
In one passage, the author was remembering a time when he was delivering newspapers at 4:30am back in the 1930s in Baltimore, and a drunk guy followed him home, offering "there's cake!" and a "party", only to find out it was all a "lie".

Danny McCOh my god I want that joystick. We invited the companion cube... but you killed him. And the cake is not a lie. Really awesome looking joystick.
