Those FIRST logos are being displayed on Boston's pixel curtains. They're the coolest things ever, and display animated graphics the entire time. Check out the webcast tomorrow to see them in action.

made by www.colorkinetics.com and www.mainlight.net

I work for colorkinetics, they are a really cool company, and mainlight also kicks some serious butt

I want to come to Boston next year!!! That is possibly the wickedest looking regional I have EVER seen! I love the lights on the player stations and field. They add color and excitement!!

Wow... I suddenly want to cover our robot in tri-color LEDs...

I really hope they have those LED curtain things in Atlanta... I'd love to see one up close and personal. So Cool!

Watch them in motion on the webcast: http://www.thebluealliance.net/boston08/

They can display full video and things, it's pretty amazing.

Is anyone else having an issue with the webcast dropping after every match or so?

You're not actually dropping. Our video encoding device is sometimes stopping pushing frames to the laptop, and we have to unplug and replug the RCA video jack going into it. The laptop, meanwhile, keeps on webcasting.

We're going to try some things at lunch, but don't want to break stuff while we don't have time to fix it between matches. Sorry for the inconvenience

So I have always wondered, why is it that regionals like this one get really cool lighting and such? I wish the ones I went to got even just the lighting from above. Is this a FIRST thing, or a event planing committee thing? Oh so cool.

I believe it is the planning committee, Boston benefits greatly from a fantastic planning committee and great sponsors.

LED Displays are at all regionals too my knowledge this year - I think FIRST is starting to steer clear of the blue banner lists of sponsors since their are so many. They find it to be easier to do a PPT presentation of all the sponsors and loop it on 2 displays .

If anything Boston seems to always have those colored FIRST Logos that I don't see at any other regional. Aside from that the lighting also seems to be the same from regional to regional (Blue / Red / White Rotating Lights/thingamabobs)

All those colors are done using moving lights... which are set up for tomorrows festivities if im not mistaken... i dont remember seeing those lights there in previous years.

As for the LED guys up on the concourse.... why didnt they do a display on the truss that is up over the field? that would have been a great promotional thing for themselves and make the field look even sicker.

I believe its the second time those lights have been at the regional and as far as I know they are specific only to Boston. One of the benefits of having an AMAZING REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE, and so many cool generous companies close to Boston!!!

Also they are all LEDs with various colors. They are dynamic and can show many graphics as well as dynamic images.

If your in Boston stop by 125's pit. We have some tubes with the LEDs in them and you can check it out. You really can't get too close to the screen.
