this is the chassis design we will probably use this year. the outside rails are held on by 12 3" standoffs. the standoffs are held on by 8-32s the axles are dead axles and are held into the chassis by two 10-32s. the supershifters bolt on to the inside rails and the bumpers bolt on to the outside rails the center support and the two pieces of aluminum angle are tig welded to the inside rails. the center support is a 2*1*.125 and the angles are 1*1*.125, the rail are .125.

sdcantrell56It looks good overall. A couple improvements that could be made: You should add some support higher up on the frame to keep the side pieces from wanting to bend in or out. Also, the angle on the front and back is not going to last long and it will be very flexible. I would personally use more tube, either 1" square or 2"x1". Also, possibly put an angle on the front and back of the side plates to increase your approach and departure angles for ramp climbing.
Overall though it looks very nice. Good job

This design would benefit greatly by having some sort of plate bolted to the bottom of the chassis to stiffen everything up.
