I was on Facebook today and saw the FIRST logo and realized it was the ad for the page! Really cool! BTW, I edited it for privacy reasons, but everything that isn't terrible trackpad marker or a white box with black border is the original screen shot. Also I took the screen shot before clicking "Become a fan" just in case it loaded another page.

I can see your facebook chat wasn't working at that time either
. That seems to be the most unreliable thing on facebook. Never the less, that's pretty cool.

Let me assure you that is not something FIRST placed in their to advertise. The ad you are referring to namely shows the Fan Group someone created about FIRST on Facebook.
See the "6 friends are fans" & "Become a fan"?
That's why that ad was targeted to you - because friends of yours are part of that public group.
Kinda like the suggested friends they have on your home page.
Also, they have user bios of random friends pop up on the left hand side as well these days, have you noticed that?
Apparrently you're not part of that group yet, & that's just the advertising portion of FB in action leading you to that one.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
FIRST is not advertising on FB the way you may think anyways.

NickEThis is a paid ad.
As shown here, Facebook allows for targeting of ads and advertising Facebook pages (like this one).
So, by clicking to become a fan, you may be charging money to whoever set up the ad campaign (depending on if it is priced per click or per view). This may or may not be FIRST.

Either way, it's a great advertisement for FIRST. I've been trying to get ahold of the group admins, though, because that group is sorely out-of-date.
