its probably to make the driving seem more realistic as to what it will be like out on the field

I like the bot (though the bumpers not exactly regulation ) it has a certain clean look to it...are yall planning on being defensive or are yall working on some sort of shooter/dumper/gatherer/who know wat else mechanism?

Thanks for all of the posts , comments and questions.

1. We think the bumpers on the back are legal once we put the fabric on. We wanted drivers to see what happens when they are on and possibly restrict turning.

2. Yes, the weights are for the training of the drivers and programming team.

3. We have made the shooter and ball gatherer module so we can work on it and make adjustments while other sub teams use the robot.

4. We were supposed to attach a CAD drawing to this photo showing that the CAD team is ahead of the mechanical team this year. First time for us and we are actually using CAD design team and their engineering skills to make decisions on prototyping. WOW, just like the real world.

5. We're also excited that we are lucky and received a Dimension prototyping machine this year and our CAD team has designed and produced parts that are being used on the robot. Real life applications!

Awesome! We do the exact same thing with our bot. To make it similar for our programmers for a full scale robot, we added a 2x4 frame and 3 non active batteries as another weight. Looking Good!

Looks like it's just the bumpers.

Yeah, this is the first year our team has been utilizing SolidWorks DURING or even BEFORE the parts are finished! It's awesome! But Kristy hates us, we keep modifying the actual robot, so she has to keep going back and modifying the CAD parts.

What kind of parts are you making with your Dimension? I'm currently trying to mod an old inkjet into a 3D printer, but I'm not entirely sure how much the parts will actually be able to stand up to. Looking into different powder mixes for something resembling plastic, just wondering what you guys have made.
