This is what happens when Andy Baker and Mark Koors meet Dr. Joe...

Stephen Kowskikicker pull back? possibly power a winch? either way I'd bet those anti back drive pins are still in that dewalt

Andrew SchreiberNice to see the Bees are hanging Eric. Let's have some more details. Standard TB and standard NBD transmission on the CIM? (3/4/12) Locked in 1st gear? 36:1 reduction? If I recall there are back drive pins which I assume you left in place.
Knowing the bees this is for some sort of arm. Turreted?

Eric YahrmatterThe Dewalt is in 1st gear, and after the Toughbox, we end up with a 153:1 reduction...I wonder what this is for...hmmm

daltoreLooks like what we were about to make tonight when our arm didn't pull the robot up. Then we just unjammed the arm
Bigger sprocket is working wonders too, lifted me up no problem in a power test. Scary as all get out...
Something very slow with a ton of torque... Forklift?

billbo911Following Dr. Joe's example , this set up should provide 34,780 Oz-in. of stall torque at about 35 RMP.
With 180 Lb-Ft of torque, lifting a robot is an easy proposition.

Definitely makes for easy lifting if potentially... sedate. Given that a 153:1 gear down leaves your end effector turning at about 35 RPM. At 2 seconds per revolution, one would hope you're not planning on needing more than one revolution to complete a lift....

BrucebWhere do you get the dewalt transmissions? Do you have to buy a whole drill?

daltoreWe've somehow found a source for $55 DeWalt drills (the whole thing minus the batteries). I think. I'll ask our mentor tomorrow if you'd like.

Brucebdaltore, Yes if you could find a better price that would be great.
Thanks
