You won't find a robot from Synergy that doesn't include wood. Here is just a small example of some of the wood on this years competition robot.

We actually have a lot of wood on our robot this year, painted navy blue of course.
Some jaguar mounting boards, "skid plate" and limit switch mounts

I can't tell you how many times we have helped teams that show up with a plywood box on wheels and they turn around and beat us. Do not under estimate the wood bots and brave little toasters!

We have one mentor who loves wood and he would be rather distraught if we didn't include wood somewhere. It really does make a great flat platform to mount things on, and n fact, that piece you see under the battery is what holds the two sides of the chassis together.
