Team 1647 Iron Devils 2010 Breakaway Bot

The team put in a lot of hours on this one and worked tirelessly throughout the last week to put in its final tweaks but they made it and we couldn’t be any more impressed.

Good luck to all teams at competition! You can see us at both Philadelphia and Atlanta.

One more thing- can any guess the number of pneumatic cylinders on this one??

Combination scissor lift four bar linkage? I think? Novel idea.

One cylinder actuates the deflector, and nothing else is really visible.

Great overall bot. It seems to be really intresting, and the kicker on 4 sides is really cool too.

And as of the # of cylinders, is it 8?

We have a tank drive train that can be switched around with the actuation of casters via pneumatic piston. (There's one to include!) So we have a 4X4 function and a 2X4 function. The 4X4 situates the robot on all 4 motorized wheels including treading. The 2X4 function situates us on casters in the front and two motorized treaded wheels in the back to optimize turning capabilities. It's quite impressive!

Theres actually 10 cylinders on this one. If you click the link to one of our previous posts you can really appreciate the complexity. I wish we had pictures of the caster system because that was the icing on the cake.

I like the ball deflector! So far your's is the only 'bot other than our own that I've seen with one. +1 for the awesome linkages too. I'm sure you'll dominate the midfield!

I'm hoping so! I believe, if we are perfect, we can score straight from the ball return. Only time will tell...

Thanks Mr. Knauss! I was suprised about how well your bot looked. I'm convinced it will preform stellar in Florida and Philly.
