I would venture to say your robot sucks!

I would love to see how your implementation of a vacuum to retain the ball works and how it performs. We didn't have great luck with ours and scrapped it Saturday for a roller design.

That doesn't look like an impeller in that... whatever that is.
Its not symmetrical, its not balanced.
Am I missing something?

Look inside the hole in this end.

This is for a vacuum system, but this is the second time team 1212 has used vacuum to pick things up. Back in 2004 team 1212 used this identical setup to pick up the big yellow ball and place it on a goal. With this motor and vacuum mechanism it will easily handle the soccer ball.

I was, but if you zoom in it looks more like a wing nut or mangled piece of aluminium than impeller vanes.

Look to the left of the nut. That's too even to be mangled aluminum, and too big to be a wing nut.

OK, looking at it for the 20th time, it is starting to look like an impeller (again, as it did the first time), (not sure what happened the other 18 times). It just doesn't seem to be operable in its current state. It seems like there should be a third visible vane at the bottom. It could be just an optical illusion, though.

Edit: Wait... Okay, I see the third vane know, definitely an optical illusion
