MARS 1523 Breakaway Robot, Rampage 2

The top of the ramp is 24". robots can also get 2 points if they climb on top and touch the pole on the platform. The Pink Noodle Rod rotates to keep the ball in place.

Very cool to see someone went with the ramp idea. Got any pictures of the ramp deployed or a video?

Couldn't a team just drive onto the platform instead of just touching the pole?

The first robot can drive onto the platform, but it only fits one so the next robot will get on top of us and touch the pole for 4 points at the end.

I don't know when we'll get a video up, but Swamp 179's robot was able to use our ramp to get onto the platform, and they are a big, front-heavy robot.

With the right alliance, I think the idea will work very well.

And regarding your comment Gorilla, I think 1557 will be an excellent partner with us.

How well does the ball-magnet and kicker work?

Can you guys deploy a section of the ramp upwards during the match so it acts as a goalie type panel?

Looks great as usual guys.

The ball-magnet was installed after our Swamp Scrimmage, so we don't know how well it works on the field, but it held the ball during our testing. The only problem is that once we held onto the ball, the belt that turned the ball magnet would slip, but that didn't stop it from working.

The kicker, a wind-back mechanism that creates tension with surgical tubing, can, if aimed properly, kick the balls across the entire field.

And no, the ramp does not extend up to act as a goal panel, we designed it for robots to climb up. But since we are fast, we can still be a decent goalie.

What we set out to do with our robot is this:
  • Go over the bump

Kick balls into our scoring zone, not necessarily into the goal. We think that we will be most useful in our defending zone.

Being quick and maneuverable. Our center sticky wheels are lower than

Helping robots climb onto the platform for 2 points, and another one on top of us for 2 more points (but they have to be touching the platform while on us).

We believe that the end game points will decide most matches and that our ramp will help our partners get those points quickly, because 20 seconds is not long.

    Another goal: NO PENALTIES

Well I did some math Calculations about a week ago and we can do about 38 kicks and deploy the ramp once until we completely depleted our air pressure. But sadly, I just did some calculations right now and since our reload time is 5 seconds that would make us able to kick 24 times in 2 minutes. That would give us a possible 24 points for kicking, and another 4 possible for the ramp. If everything were to go perfect and have us (Or another robot) to score about 24 goals in one match if we have enough supply and no one takes the balls that we kicked, then another 4 at the end of the match of the ramp. That would basically give us 28 points per match. Highly unlikely but could happen.

Looks good guys. I know we both did a number of tweaks after our get together. I dunno how hard it would be as an add on for you, but we are also considering using our arm for bopping the balls back to our zone as they come off the track thing. I think that would be an extra cool feature for you guys due to your ramp size etc. see ya in a couple weeks!

What is the black tread material on your ramp? and do you know the angle of the first segment of the ramp?

We have skateboard grip tape on the ramp and it is 37.5 degrees

I don't know if we can add anything on because our robot weighed between 119 and 120 when we shipped it. We could always just sit under the ball dropper so they bounce off our ramp too.

And yeah, the grip tape is just to help robots climb up our ramp. Top-heavy or uneven center-of-gravity bots may have some trouble going up the ramp if not careful. Swamp struggled to get up when going up because most of their weight was in the rear.
