Go to Post The most important piece of advice I can give is have someone assigned to pay attention to the batteries. You cannot imagine how many teams end up saying "I thought you were charging the batteries..." - RoboMom [more]

Have you changed your autonomous mode since NJ?

Tom- in NJ we only used 1 of 7. They all work OK but we were trying to work with the partners

what do you specifically refer to that needed changing?

I don't think anything NEEDED changing, I just figured that 25 would not put a four week long bye to waste. I'm curious to see if you made any big changes, or plan to use a different mode than you did in NJ.

Tom- looking at what we face in LV we figure we may use the "clear out 3" modes at some time. But we prefer to shoot the 2 from midfield and then send up all the balls forward to work with partners back and forward. And we have modes we will probably never use but we have the ability to switch at ease.

Ball handling was our #1 design goal. As you saw in NJ- we are pretty good at picking balls off the wall and out of corners. The robot will draw a ball in from about 6-10 inches from anywhere in front of the robot and hold it well when moving and turning. That makes a good ball handler that can shoot from many places.

That 4 week BYE time was spent making Atlanta arrangements and having some fun. Our programming is all but done already. And we don't have a practice bot this year so testing was impossible.

Hell- we were lucky to get the robot built and running this year. We lost our shop and much of our money. Only the resilience of the team, our great BMS mentors and lots of really hard work and long hours got us through it. It has been an incredibly challenging season. But it has also been an incredibly enriching one. And we are ready to play- AGAIN.

Good luck in Vegas. Hope to see you guys in our division in ATL. Thanks for the great strategy in NJ. We borrowed it in VA and had favorable results!
Cheers
