It's pretty much that. 2007 with a minibot.

Akash RastogiWhy fix what ain't broke, right?
Another great evil machine. Although I'll only be seeing this beast on Saturday morning without MORT, I'm glad both 11 and 25 are going to Virginia
.
Good luck Wayne and company, not that you'll need it.

waialua359For once I guessed right about you guys during week 1.
Good luck this season.

bmxer51Where did you get your coiled pneumatic tubing?? Or did you coil it yourself and how??

In all seriousness looks good guys. Good Luck!

If it wasn't for the PDB, I really would just think this was your 2007 bot.

I still feel like this is their 2007 robot. This is why I feel that way...
1) The tread on those wheels seems a little worn off (given the fact that this might be their practice robot).
2) 2007 game involved climbing up other robots (ramps), this chassis was designed to climb ramps hence the angle in the front.
3) They probably slapped on legal electronics to drive around that robot.
4) ... I wouldn't be surprised at all if their 2010 robot looks exactly the same with a minibot.

Even though this looks similar, everything has been redesigned from scratch. If the webcast runs / if you see it in person, you will notice significant differences in the way it performs.

Chris is meThis can't be their 2007 robot as it only has 6 wheels.
I'm curious to see what improvements they made... if any.

. We did not have one. Don't worry - a surprise awaits you at the Florida regional.

I thought this thread was a joke until I saw the new radio and battery.

Akash RastogiThe lift on this thing is insanely quick. Just watched on the webcast.

1. What you see as "worn" is actually a couple of bored students with a black marker. These wheels are not even the same style used in 2007 and they are not cut like we have in any other year
2. Even as early as 2004, our bases have a 45* cut at the front and back with just enough room to cover the wheels. This is done to preserve structural integrity and save weight. 3 & 4. It seems like you are accusing us of using our "practice" 2007 robot instead of building a new one . We did not have one. Don't worry - a surprise awaits you at the Florida regional. ![]() |

I was not accusing your team. I assumed that team 25 will not post an actual picture of the robot before their regional not realizing first week of regionals starts today.

Their driveframe in 07 also used large rectangular tubing versus the current plate setup.

electronman, those are some big gears on that drivetrain!
(I know you guys do this every year, but why don't you use chain?)
snide remarks about it looking similar aside, that is a nice robot! Good luck tomorrow and Saturday!
(maybe I'll be able to drop by on saturday and see it in person
)

Jamie KalbWhat material are the giant drivetrain gears, if you don't mind my asking? They look almost like brass to me, but I imagine that would wear very quickly...?

I think 25 purchases their gears from Boston Gear, if so, the spur gears they sell are steel and brass.

Wayne C.Like Snapple the best stuff just got better
Differences from 07 to note
1. Pneumatic grip and tilt
2. 6 wheel drive
3. Tire dia totally different
4. Drive chassis new design note motor placement
5. Count the tower sections
6. Tower lift is 8xfaster. We programmed it to 1/10. Speed to keep it from killing itself and others
7. Haven't had on board compressor in years
Now if we could get that blastedminibot on thepost there would be something else to see
Monkey wrenches have a minibot that amazes. Rightnow they are the team to beat at NJ

..... the tower is programmed to 1/10 speed? That thing is by far the fastest and smoothest lift I've seen this year.
Oh, and the Drivetrain seems a bit different aside from what you listed. I meant to ask Shaun about it, but it appears way more agile than previous 25 robots. |
