Re: pic: Where is Skippy?
Ok, 'part of the story' time which I'm loving!
When Dana posted this photo in Facebook, I asked him to tell the story behind the Skippy peanut butter. I knew about a vague reference to Dancin' Dave and the Skippy peanut butter jar but did not know the story. Dana didn't reply but instead, posted the photo here in CD. No responses to the photo except for ... Tony Bertucci, known as Bertman here in CD and the lead mentor on 418, who sent Dana a PM and responded to the question, Where is Skippy? Tony's reply was, "On the hood." (And you think I make bad jokes/puns, hah!) Dana asked Tony if I had put him up to that (trust me, the man needs no encouragement, he is capable of making bad jokes/puns all on his own) and told the story of the Skippy peanut butter:
Dana: Tell her you know the story behind the Skippy peanut butter. Up here in New England, we have a well known Head Ref, Dancin Dave Goric, who a few years ago, took a picture of a jar of Skippy in front of a road sign while "on tour" reffing matches throughout the country. Well, it kind of became a inside joke to ask "where's Skippy" whenever "on tour with your team. I took Rosie to DC last weekend and decided to see if I could resurrect the Skippy tour. So far, you're the only respondent, beside Jane wondering the story. So now you're one up on her!

I loved the photo because of the sign - the Purple Heart Trail. I knew there was a great deal of affection and history attached to the Skippy peanut butter jar and it really made me smile when I saw that sign behind it. Really neat and very special. Good luck with the Skippy tour resurrection, Dana!
