Team 48 2012 Robot - xtremachen15

Introducing our 2012 Team 48 competition and practice robots, xtremachen15 (aka "Howie", aka "Kyrie") and "Andy". Go Cavs.

The feature of this bot that sticks out the most is the tilting cage/shooter that doubles as the bridge tender. Also, with the cage tilt, CG is never an issue on the field.

Are those blue pool noodles centering the ball in the elevator?
Looks great guys, can't wait to see it in action.

Indeed they are, backed by lexan. They seem to do the trick. We'll have graphics applied to hide the velcro.

Would you prefer pink? :-)

Can I get some orange? Looks like another great machine for 48 this year!

That's why it looks so familiar! We have the same noodles, same color, doing the same thing on our bot (although ours is quite a bit taller).

Looking forward to seeing many good friends at our regionals this year. Good luck to 1038 at Smoky Mountains Week 1 - we'll be watching!

We do have a few new vids - nothing overly special yet. Made a mechanical tweak to the shooter wheels today - definite shot consistency upgrade.

Extended shooting trial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT3VoHxapqY (shooting new basketballs can definitely have an impact)

New vid links with the most recent testing. Adding our new retractable shooting hood not only permits topspin lob shots cross-court, but also seems to have improved shooter accuracy and efficiency in the normal backspin mode.

Now that the regional season has ended, I wanted to share some information and video links of Team 48's competitive season for the benefit of any St. Louis scouters (*cough* *hack* and FRCTop25 voters *cough hack cough*).

******

Team 48 Season Summary through end of regionals:

Ranked 25th out of 2332 teams with an Adjusted OPR of 26.7 (Ed Law)
3 Regionals Attended, 2 of which are considered by many to be 2 of the more competitive events this season. Consistency in Hybrid Scoring/Bridge Balancing and steady improvement in Teleop performance was the name of our game this year.
We have a triple balance assist device onboard and will continue to prepare for its usage heading into St. Louis - we will be ready to be a part of any "double stinger" triple balance alliance. Here is a video of us practicing one version of a triple with 2481 and 45 in Queen City: http://youtu.be/mZoVqUAWyEs
Pittsburgh: 16-0-0 (10-0-0 qualifying, 6-0-0 eliminations, #1 seed, #1 alliance captain)
· 28 QS, 132 HP, 70 BP, 132 TP, 8 CP
Wisconsin: 13-5-0 (7-4-0 qualifying, 6-1-0 eliminations, #2 seed, #2 alliance captain)
· 32 QS, 145 HP, 50 BP, 168 TP, 18 CP
Queen City: 12-6-0 (8-2-0 qualifying, 4-4-0 eliminations, #4 seed, #3 alliance captain)
· 28 QS, 154 HP, 60 BP, 240 TP, 12 CP
Overall Regional Record: 41-11-0 (25-6-0 qualifying, 16-5-0 eliminations)
Competitive/Technical Awards Earned:
  • Pittsburgh Regional Champions
  • Wisconsin Regional Champions
  • Wisconsin Motorola Quality Award
  • Queen City Regional Finalists
  • Team 3193, our robot design collaboration partners, also won the Queen City GM Industrial Design Award for the same base robot design.
Additional Recognitions:
  • Pittsburgh Regional Chairman’s Award
  • Pittsburgh Regional Woodie Flowers Finalist Award
  • Queen City UL Industrial Safety Award

QF4-2: http://youtu.be/L_AQdh2FIDo (a neat look at 48/3193's synchronized hybrid - kill it early to avoid hearing me go nuts...or don't)

Thank you to all team members, sponsors, parents, and other supporters of our program for working so hard to get us this far in what has become our best competitive season ever. Here's hoping we can put on one more entertaining showing at a fun and successful Championship Event!
