Shifting Cylinder On Top Or Bottom

Shifting Cylinder On Top Or Bottom

I tend to package the transmission with output shaft under counter shaft, placing the pneumatic cylinder under the motors in a flat plane. Judging by pictures on CD, I’m not the only one who likes to do this. This year we decided to use a VP compact cylinder that mounts on the diagonal, which unfortunately positions fittings and connections just above belly pan. Not ideal but manageable, given the requirement to package protect for another variable.

Seeking some dialog if cylinder placement is even considered when doing the design.
