Team 5259 @ Arkansas Regional
Their robot used a manikin leg as their kicker topped by a lampshade.

They had replacement hosiery in their pit box. I was present for the angst generated by the fact that "someone" had purchased panty hose instead of thigh highs. Sure that was a first at FIRST. What a joy they were at the event. Very proud of their creativity and attitude. They really brought a lot of attention to the Arkansas Regional.

The first thing I thought of upon seeing this was Christmas Story.

This should just win best robot ever. Trust me, that's an award.

It was remarkably successful.
When I first saw this -- I have to admit -- I laughed. This thing would never work. Like, for real?
But it worked. Not as effectively as some other robots, to be sure. But they scored a number of goals with it. From what I remember, they got truss shots almost every match, and scored in the high goal a handful of times. I think they even scored in autonomous once or twice.

Very cool. Maybe a 'special' award.

perhaps an award awarded by 'judges' where a team’s unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition?
