Autopsy of snow blower motor failure

A composite picture series showing the internals of the snow blower motor's gearbox after one tournament of ball pickup duty. The center hole of the soft-steel drive plate has been distorted to very near the point of not being able to transmit the output gear's rotation to the output shaft. This was noticed by being able to manually rotate the output sprocket many more degrees than should have been allowed by the worm gear design of this device. We will be watching closely to see how long this motor's replacement lasts.

Unread Re: pic: Autopsy of snow blower motor failure

We've found the snow blower and window motors both to be very fragile, too. Never took apart ours- didn't realize that output gear is plastic!
Happily haven't used any window motors since mishaps last year.
