Sprinkle(s) the BirthdayBots Robot

The Ballad of Sprinkle(s) can be found on our blog.

We created a whole theme for our 2nd robot at one of our off-season events. BirthdayBots was short lived but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.

I was also reminded yesterday why this robot is notable.

It's drive train has 10 motors 4 775s and 6 CIMs (That's a little over 4 hp). It uses 4 4" VEXpro omni wheels geared 12:72. The 775s are ran through a set of VersaPlanetary Dual motor inputs and a 3:1 VP stages. We put two large 120mm muffin fans above the 775s to keep them running cool, but that probably wasn't needed.

We didn't do anything fancy with the main breaker and we never popped it since this drive train is traction limited.

This was built mostly to be ridiculous and see what would happen. There has been a lot of talk about limiting drive motors and how "6 CIMs means you'll pop the main breaker." Pretty clearly the latter is not always true. As for the former while this robot did accelerate very quickly it wasn't a big advantage and it didn't seem any more dangerous than the other robots. The weight limit and the carpet do a pretty good job of keeping forces under control.
