3360's Oversteer pimped for Montreal regional!

Hyperion designed a claw to hold the RCs while stacking between Toronto and Montreal. Almost doubles our QA by allowing us to stack 2 x 6 totes with RC from the landfill.
Note: the claw was machined with a jigsaw and a drill.

I was quite impressed that you were able to pull off that Recycling Container Stabilizer in between regional. How long did it take you to design it and how long did it take you to build and code it? (I asked one of students and I think he said it was built in about a day but I had to leave and I'm quite curious.) When you mentioned that the robot would look significantly different I thought it would either be a RC stabilizer or a Ramp of some sort and the former was right.

we've built and designed the claw in a week, but we had to remove 5 pounds on our elevator in order to add it. We also made a ramp that we used during practices (just like 1114) but we didn't have to use it in playoffs.

The entire claw was made with a jigsaw 2 days before montreal and we were able to program it in 1 minute 37 seconds (not joking).

We also had an automatic sticking sequence using limit switches, but we broke them and didn't take the time to replace it.

What an impressive machine. Good luck at the World Championship!

How is the claw physically held together? Riveted sheet metal? brackets on the inside/outside that are rivited or bolted to the sheet metal? It's really cool that you only needed to use a jig saw and drill to fabricate it!

the sides are folded on each side to rovet the top and the bottom together, and the 2 moving parts are held together by the piston on the back
