Reddit does NSFW for things that are "really outstanding" (ex clean wiring and clean tool boxes etc) not necessary the usual NSFW type stuff.

We had a freshman and do this 2 days ago. They are now all around the box again. Oh well we tried.

Zebra_Fact_ManHumorously enough, my team also marks frequently used allen wrenches with a red band.
We don't sort them though; the red paint band makes it easy enough to find.

Our team had the wonderful idea of taping bright red electrical tape around the hex keys. Makes them really easy to find!

Wow, didn't even see that your team did the same. Kudos! Great minds think alike, I guess.

Whenever we buy a set of tools, we look for those that are already color coded.
We put a thin band of green tiger stripe tape on the handle of all the metric wrenches. This makes sorting the wrench drawer go at least 4 times as fast as before. First pass - tiger stripes to left, no stripes to right. Then order each side by size. You can do it without reading a single number. In fact, many of the wrenches now get put back at least close to where they belong.

All our different sizes are color coded. with some paint. It's easier to tell our kids to grab a certain color than a size.
