jajabinx124How in the world did they capture the tower without crossing defenses?? (Red got 2 pts for defenses, but that is reaching in autonomous.. they have to cross defenses in order to contact the opponent courtyard in order to score boulders)

Bob SteeleAgreed
You can't score without crossing defenses.... or scale
What was going on? Did they miss ALL of the crossings.
The minimum defense score had to have been 10 Even if all three teams only went over the same defense every time.
This is impossible. All three robots were challenging the tower at the end so they have to have crossed a defense. There were no penalties assessed for coming in the secret passage way.

Something is weird here...

OzuruNah, the concept of video replays is absolutely absurd. I'm confident that this match was scored correctly -- the robots just simply teleported.
16-03-2016 16:58
dodarThis wouldnt be the first time a score was shown wrong and corrected.
16-03-2016 16:58
forbesThere was a problem with real-time defense scoring. The match was replayed the next morning.

This scenario is hypothetically possible with a spybot (and some generous human players on the opposing alliance).
16-03-2016 17:16
Christopher149You could travel via the secret passage to avoid the defenses, but then some penalties would show up.

archery3102One or two bots could have been in the spy box and the third could have been feeding stones to them until the end when they crossed to capture the tower.
16-03-2016 17:35
archery3102Now I look at it closer it doesn't appear to be possible. There was a scoring mistake.

Not that it DID happen like this, but it COULD have happened like this:

16-03-2016 17:54
Sparky3DIf my math is correct, Red Robot A starts in the neutral zone and gets a reach in autonomous, but breaks down. Red Robot B starts in the spy box, scores 8 high goals and 1 low goal (boulders would have to be stolen from blue alliance or via some great human player action) and then scales at the end.
Doesn't explain the capture, though.

Did the power go out on match 62 and corrupt the match data?

sdangeloIf this year's rules about needing all the robots on the batter were like last year's autonomous rules, then you could theoretically get a capture with just one robot--if it were the only one to show up. You can get a "reach" in autonomous even if you start from the courtyard side (the manual just says one bumper has to be in the outer works), so the whole thing could be done by one lonely red robot starting as a spybot, driving up to one defense in auto, then spending the entire match in the courtyard shooting boulders before hanging. Unfortunately it looks like you actually do need all three robots on the field for a capture though.

bigbeezySince everyone is wondering... This was really the 3rd attempt (of 4) to play Q62. 3937 knocked out the moat the first 2 tries, and actually did on the 3rd but not enough to notice, and everyone was tired of resetting their robots. For whatever reason with the FMS we weren't able to do auto in try 3 (crossed both times previously). The ref in charge of the blue defenses (red crossing) failed to credit all but a couple crossings... We crossed the low bar 3 times, moat 4, cheval 3, etc. Basically we didn't know what was gone because none of the lights were going out. Yes we fully crossed. There was also an issue with the field or something because one of the Blue Alliance driver station team numbers was flickering the entire time. Red was crossing extra defenses not knowing what was destroyed and Blue eased up thinking they were way ahead.
We replayed in the morning and you can see the posted outcome. Unfortunate but we should have been consistent enough for it not to matter. Congrats Blue Alliance.
