Over the weekend we created a ping pong ball shooter for are Argobot and added vision aiming to it. We got amazing results and had to share it with Chief Delphi. You can see a video of the robot auto aiming and hitting 2 targets in 4 seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pQD2WqQjCM
We are planning on making another one and making some game out of it. Any ideas on a game?

billbo911Nicely done!
So, which of the plethora of controllers available these days did you build this with?

How about making other robots like these and making a dodgeball game? If you find a way to detect when you are hit, it could be fun to see a competition among autonomous robots with different strategies...

cad321I'd love to see a close up of the shooting mechanism. Also is that a pixy cam I see being used for vision?

thatprogrammerNice robot with a solid visioning system!
What do you mean by the pixy losing its configuration? I have used a pixy for several months without every needing to "remind' it of what settings I had set it up with in pixymon.

gblakeFor scorekeeping,
Detecting when an IR beam is blocked by a ball that falls into a funnel and then into a "detection pit" should be pretty easy (As easy as anything is in these situations).
To account for changing ambient light, instead of looking for a single pair of blocked/unblocked values, you could turn the IR transmitter on/off frequently, and keep track of the changes in received signals (when they stop changing, the beam is blocked (or the receiver is saturated)).

dirtbikerxzCan I get the code for the arduino please. I to am using a pixy on an arduino, but my vision tracking is really twitchy.

Here is a picture of the ping pong shooter. It is very simple just a servo and dc motor with a direct drive wheel. https://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/43977?
You can see a screen shot of a code here http://imgur.com/a/BO1qq |
