Our team has encountered some rough times since the end of the 2003 Season. Our awsome mentor and advisor Susan Zagar left the school district and we’ve had no adult willing to help us run the team. Also when Zagar left we didn’t have access to the Team Management or the storage place where we put Little Moe . Things are starting to be come into place now. We have the money and an advisor who seems as excited as someone who has actually been to a Regional Competition would be. It is December 10th, however, which is well 5 days after the registration closed… We are talking about calling FIrst and trying to talk to some people, but we have no idea if it is even possible for us to compete this year. So I digged out my username to Chief Delphi and decided to ask for ANY help from the veteran teams. We aren’t rookies like we were last year, but it looks like we have only 2 returning members and as far as the team management part, we didn’t see much of what our mentor had to do. Does anyone know of any possibility that we can still register? All the California Regionals are closed, except sacramento, which is pretty far. But the Arizona one has still 4-5 spots left. If ANYONE has something that could help us, you have no idea how much it would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
~Felipe, PRISM Robotics programmer.
Call FIRST right away and explain everything that you wrote here. If you have the registration fee in hand and if there’re spots available in a regional you can get to, I can’t imagine them telling you that you can’t reregister.
Don’t worry about access to TIMS. Just explain what’s happened and they’ll fix it all up right for ya. Good luck and welcome back
If you have the money in hand, call FIRST immediatly.
If you do not have the money, but are only thinking that you will raise the money if there is a spot, then it will be unlikely that you will get a spot.
Either way, call FIRST ASAP and tell them your situation, they are the only ones with the answer.
I LOVE ChiefDelphi!!! We are going to call First as soon as we can. Crosses finger
I just can’t wait to smell the machine shop smells and stay up all night trying to figure out the programming, and this year we will make sure to have a good website and animation…thinks about Kickoff in January…ahh…goes see if he can talk mentor into calling right now
The guy to talk to is Jason Morella, the FIRST Western Regional Director. He is keeper of the wait list among other things. If you have cash in hand, then I’m sure something can be arrainged.
If you have trouble contacting him via FIRST try PMing him through this website. Just look him up in the member list, he uses his real name, and send an e-mail. If you haven’t managed to get hold of him by Friday, PM me and I will see what I can do.
