1124 2010 Image Prevelance and How to Delete

Anyone have other examples of this Image being on the site, because I could swear it’s there on other pages randomly.

I seconded it in that thread and I will second it in this one.

did someone go adding in these photos as a joke?

It’s the example for posting single photos that are not part of an album from Imgur. Somewhere under the robot media submission page on TBA has it listed.

I just added a portion to the thread title since the root cause has been identified. Is there a way to delete orphaned instances of this image and them in general? There’s plenty of images in pages that are just plain wrong, however there isn’t really a good mechanism to delete them.

Also, why was the late image selected as the example?

It’s the placeholder content for the Add Media input. I’m not about to test if hitting the button when the input is empty adds that image.

Side note: this robot was pretty awesome. It was able to score so many soccer balls without even having a kicking or holding device - it would just push them into the goal.

This is probably my fault! I wrote much of the current suggestion code in TBA, and that’s the team I was a student on, so it was an example imgur link I had handy at the time

That robot did actually have a kicker! It was this shin-breaking pneumatic thing that was much less effective than the herding approach, so it went unused. I agree it was a pretty awesome robot though

Next you’ll accidentally leave a donation link to the team as the suggestion code?

I deleted this one and the one in the OP. Happy to handle any others, as well

I just tried adding an empty URL and it failed (good) instead of suggesting that placeholder. I’m not sure how this image got actually suggested twice.

Someone with TBA API experience could probably search through the teams looking for that particular imgur URL.

went ahead and did just that, only team I found using "aF8T5ZE" in item['direct_url'] is “frc3489

I only checked teams that are competing in 2025, I’d run it for more years but I already got rate-limited by tba once while testing this lmao

at least for 2025 we should be rid of the 1124 photo after this one

edit: ran it some more and found no offenders for 2023 or 2024, im surprised anyone even noticed this was a pattern considering how uncommon its proving to be?

Nevermind, I’m doing something wrong. For team 841 they clearly have the image, but it doesn’t show up in the api at all (with the endpoint https://www.thebluealliance.com/api/v3/team/frc841/media/2025), the api only returns their avatar which is weird.

Let me know what y’all need to troubleshoot this, I got asked about it on the way to an off-season last year, had no answers for my students, and definitely wouldn’t mind it being fixed.

I’m wondering if adding team-specific content will cause the 1124 image to go away?
My team-specific content could be this photo of our 2023 robot https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_ux7R9Qv-llG4BKYHteKHrf09-ypBm54xOL_K4JAAylK3qkXiVwGQWFI1uecch3gSqSqIHoNoEDGe5mbufJjExE=w1280
