The first part we fabricated for the season (1/4" stainless):

Our design this year is rather unorthodox. We’ll see what happens.

Have you guys put any of the pieces together yet?
Hey… I know what that is…
On our robot we call it “the tongue”.

1/4"… Stainless??? :ahh:
Wow your using stainless steel? Normally i would sat use steel for stuff, but not an FRC robot, it’s just too heavy and it isn’t cheap. We use Alum. only, not to say we haven’t built test bots out of plywood.
Nope, nothing of the sort!
This is the first year we’ve had a significant piece of the robot made out of steel. The part is about 12lbs and should be the heaviest thing on the bot by far. We’re considering re-cutting it out of 3/8" aluminum, but this is the scrap that was available - we got it free, and aren’t going to be pushing the limits of the FIRST cost accounting rules with the robot we’re building this year. Actually, there was some discussion of making it out of titanium for the “wow!” factor, but that wasn’t available.
well my team is a little behind this year. we just started building yesterday. however we will finish. aluminum is awsome. down with steel. if ur robot is of plywood i feel bad for you
Our testbot is made of plywood =P
we haven’t even made anything yet, we have to wait for parts to come in
Do you guys send your parts out to be made?
Some of those plywood bots will surprise you! While we wouldn’t build a bot with wood, we’ve had some struggles overcoming a few on the field.
