Looking at the road cases, it looks like there’s an extra section below the main road case box that extends out farther for where the lid goes. Is this just an extra 1/2in layer of plywood for bottom support?
Road cases usually add another 3/4" plywood plate under the bottom of the case to support the casters (a single layer of 1/2" ply wouldn’t be enough). They make it extend a little in front to help support the lid when you are closing it up.
A word of caution: we found that 3/4" pine plywood wasn’t enough to support our casters against bumps and shoves. We ended up replacing it with a “skateboard” made of welded steel bar.

I’m with Steel Ridge 6343 and we are looking to do one of the cases for our bit, specifically the battery charging station. Do you have details on what you did for the battery charging? Any advice on costs and timeline would be great too!
