1557 and Deans' Homework.

As per Deans’ homework for this year, team 1557 is trying to connect as many people to FIRST as possible.

One way we are going at this is through FaceBook, and our vertically-challenged robot-mascot Volty Mcnut. (His Page) http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=100000138020444&ref=ts

Volty would like to add 1,000 friends to his facebook page(atm he has 42). His page contains a link to our website and to FIRST’s website. Volty also posts comments and pictures from time to time. He will make it a point to add information about FIRST and Team 1557 to keep his friends involved, as well as posting important deadlines and saftey reminders throughout.

As the build season draws to a close, Volty will encourage his friends to attend the Regionals at UCF, or for those that live outside the Central Florida area, help find a Regional-Event near them.

He may even offer a printable version of the souvenir ticket and a printable 12 Volt Bolt team name tag with the words Guest of Honor printed where our tags say mentor or student.

He has found me as a friend. Plus some of this stuff is a good idea. I’m liking the idea about the getting in contact with others about regionals in a location near you type thing.

Our plan (which was already set in motion before the homework assignment) :smiley:

  • 3168 has a Facebook group! It’s very easy- “Team 3168”
  • We’re promoting our blog throught the school- http://blogs.spsk12.net/nrhs-robotics
  • We’re selling Fan T-shirts for people to wear when they come to see us on Saturday at the competition.
  • Our local newspaper has even decided to do a weekly update on our team! (focusing on our Rookie Season)

Any other suggestions?

Our teams theme this year: Anyone can make a difference…I’m the one!..and you can be too.

We are trying to increase our community involvement this year. Winning Chairmans last year was great, but we NEED to do better, and I know we can…
