1678 2018 Fall Workshop Series - LIVE!

The Citrus Circuits are excited to host our 4th annual Fall Workshop series during the Capital City Classic event this weekend. New this year, we are streaming all 23 workshops for FRC teams from around the world to tune in LIVE!

Here is the schedule of workshops, given by 1678 students and mentors (unless noted in the schedule). All times are PST, this Friday Oct 26 and Saturday Oct 27.

All of the livestream links will be hosted on the Citrus Circuits YouTube channel, so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss when the workshops go live! All of the workshops should be archived for teams to watch after the event. We’ll try to post the links to the livestreams here right before they go live, but that is TBD.

If possible, our presenters will be taking questions from the livechat, so we highly recommend tuning in!

An archive of many of our past workshops can be found on our website: https://www.citruscircuits.org/fall-workshops.html

Will your presenters be mic’d? I generally haven’t seen too many great recordings but would love to see one from you guys that I can hear!

Super excited for this! We won’t be arriving u til late Friday evening so we’ll tune in to the workshops on the car ride up!

Yes, we have two wireless lapel mics for each of our 8 live-streaming computers. I tested them out myself last week and it sounded pretty good, but I’ll let the audience make the final judgement

After having planned a small workshop series for the first time this year, I’m in awe of your guys’ ability to coordinate all of this and put it together so well. Thanks for making such great educational tools available to the community!

You should run a workshop workshop though. I’d watch it.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the strategic design presentations, especially the one I wanna say was from 2016. The story about the Taboo buzzer is my favorite, and something I may have to adapt for future years.

Hey Mike,

This is great to hear about and I really looking forward to watching these.

I will be tasking my team to watch as many as they can.

Thank you so much for your commitment to creating better resources for all!

Hope to see you again this season.

Aloha!

Mike

Workshops are going live in just a few minutes. Check our YouTube channel for links!

Mike et. al., is there a way we could get a better view of what’s on Austin’s screen in the Test-driven Development workshop? Alternatively, could we see about getting the before and after of the code they’re writing?

So many great topics all live at once, I can’t decide which to watch.

Great job Michael and 1678. This is a great resource for the community.

The stream quality is great also.

All,

We had a few hiccups with a few of our livestream stations, and some others did not have great views of the screens. We apologize for these mistakes but our Workshop team is working hard to learn from the failures and bring even better quality streams tomorrow.

One schedule change, the Goal Setting workshop during session 3 is cancelled. It will be replaced with another presentation of the Strategic Design workshop. We had an issue with that stream and are hoping to get a clean recording tomorrow!

Big thanks to everyone that tuned in today!

-Mike

It’s because you slipped and said “mecanum design” instead of “mechanism design” isn’t it? I’m onto your tricks

2nd Session of workshops are going live in just a few minutes!

3rd session going live now! Tune in!

Due to a issue with YouTube on our school campus, we were not able to livestream Session 3. We will be uploading those recordings soon. The rest of the workshops are available now on our 2018 Fall Workshop YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6j32uphg3L-iMH8JzEsG34QCMrhU6Q7S

Thanks to everyone who tuned in for the livestreams!

Thanks for sharing these! Will definitely be pointing our team to them!

FYI - looks like something went wrong in the post-processing of the Fab & Prototyping one.

Thanks so much for putting these on and doing your best to stream them / get content out there, in spite of technical challenges. Will the slides be available online at any point, especially for the sessions plagued by video / audio issues?

It was like that live, so probably not recoverable. Hopefully the slides will be posted though so you can follow along with the audio.

Will Adam Heard’s Workshop on 2056 be uploaded? Was disappointed that I couldn’t see it live and would like to watch it before I inevitably forget.

Yes! These are always a pleasure to watch.
