Team 1678 from Davis, California, is hosting a day of workshops on October 18th, 2014. We plan to record the talks and make them available on YouTube. We will be running some workshops simultaneously, so those who can attend in person will be able chose two, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our current schedule is as follows:
Morning Workshops 9:00 am - 12:00 pm:
-Intro to Electrical/Electrical Systems
-Intro to Robot Programming
-Machining Safely and Effectively
-Intro to Game Analysis and Design
-Chairman’s with guest presenters from Team 604 Quixilver
Lunch 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Afternoon Workshops 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm:
-Electrical Failure Analysis/Mathematical Electronics
-Assembly and Hardware
-Effective Autonomous and Control Loops
-Managing a Team/Building and Maintaining Partnerships
-Designing and Engineering Drawings
-Scouting and Competition Strategy
I am very much looking forward to running/teaching the machining and fabrication workshops! As well as letting other teams pick my brain about maximizing your shop tools when building robots. Most people would be amazed at what you can build with just a hacksaw and a few choice hand tools.
You may attend any (and as many) workshop(s) you want. We have about 40 seats per room for each workshop. However, if more than 40 people register for a workshop we will reserve a larger room to accomodate. If you do not register before hand for a workshop we cannot guarantee that we will have enough seats for you.
It will be in C.
Update
Here is a live link to register for the workshops. If you aren’t 100% sure how many people will be coming it is better to register for more spots than you need so that we will be prepared will enough space/seats to accomodate everyone.
This is Omena Mushale, vice president of Team 701, the RoboVikes. I will possibly have around 5 people for both of the workshops. Will lunch be provided or do we eat in restaurants around the area?
If you are planning to attend, please fill out the sign up sheet. If you’ve already done that then thank you for doing so. The workshop venue is about a block and a half from a shopping center with 5 choices for food. There are also two other groups of restaurants both within about a 2 minute drive of the venue. We will not be able to provide food at the venue, but we will have a list of nearby food choices with their location, price range, speed of service, and type of food listed.
Do you plan on video recording your workshops? If not, would you be willing to? I’ve got a project involving workshops and resource for FIRST teams that I would love to talk to you and your team about, if you are interested.
3 of the workshops have been switched between morning and afternoon to accomodate students taking the psat who are presenting. We will confirm all final information in this thread as soon as possible.
Edit: The final location is a Davis Senior Highschool
The final location is davis senior highschool, parking is between the school, tennis courts, and veterans memorial center on 14th street, or on Oak street.
