The New Yorker profiled students from Dos Pueblos HS at a hackathon in New York in its January 9 issue.
Don’t tease me like that…
Nope, still hurts. Still sad.

Please never do that again
I got super excited for a second. I have conversations this year, and last year, about what kind of robot 1717 would have made.
Two of the Dos Pueblos students at that competition are members of 5818 and were responsible for the two gear autonomous programming we did this year. Incredibly talented students.

That hurt me a little bit
Man I kept hoping for that two gear auto to work in Ventura! It was awesome to watch.
I know the 1717 ‘tease’ is sad… but so is this line in the article.
(Not a single high-school girl took part in this year’s competition.)
To anyone like me who is a relative newcomer to FRC and had to search. Here’s some context:
It’s pretty obvious that no girls participate in FIRST. :deadhorse:
That line wasn’t talking about first, but rather that “hacking” competition.
Just a little context of the CSAW competition:
The qualification rounds are online competitions that all students are invited to participate in, and hundreds of teams compete (including a few from my school’s Computer Science Club). From there, the top teams from the global scoreboard and the #1 ranking team from each regional scoreboard advances to the final rounds (the competition described in the article).
I know for a fact that high school girls competed in the qualification rounds, as there were at least a few female competitors from my school. However unfortunate it is that no girls made the final rounds, I find that quote to be a little misleading.
My bad

Thanks for the clarification! While that’s tough for those ladies competing, I’m glad they were there!
