Hello! I recently watched 195 reveals video and they seem to have some dual gas shock system on their main pivot sprocket, I’m wondering if anyone could explain how this works?
Gas shocks on a sprocket act as counterbalance for the arm. Mounting directly to a sprocket is something I first saw 254 do in 2019 but the use of gas shocks as counterbalance has been around forever.
Gas shocks also help stabilize and smooth systems.
Does that answer your question?

That exact 254 photo was up on a screen while we were working on figuring out how to fit in the gas springs.
Like on a car trunk door they help carry the load of our arm, as well as stabilize, linearize, and dampen it’s movement, like Akash said, which makes it much easier to control.
