For whatever strange reason this morning, the TV ended up on C-Span while I was getting ready for work. The interview quickly became interesting as Robert Compton introduced his 2 Million Minutes project and documentary. Mr. Compton interviewed and researched students in the US (Carmel HS in Indiana, home of team 868 but the team was not shown), China, and India. His goal was to show how the US educational system is lagging behind in this day and age particularly in the science, math, and technology fields.
He talks about changing the culture of the US is the way to improve the situation. Seems very much in line with what FIRST is trying to accomplish… For those of you interested, the website is here where a copy of the documentary can be ordered.

This is really interesting stuff and shows exactly why programs like FIRST are important. I wonder if Dean or someone up at FIRST has been in touch with Mr. Compton…
