Does anyone know if dates for the 2002 competitions (especially nationals) have been set yet, and have they been released? If not, does anyone know when they typically are released?

Last year I don’t think they released dates until after the kick-off but heres how I’m pretty sure it works:
That’s just my guess looking at the dates for the previous 3 years
BTW, according to that it looks like the kick-off will be January 5th and the National competition will be April 3-5th
If my memory serves me correctly, the dates are actually released around October. I only remember this because it was around this time that the GLR was announced as being at MIchigan state rather than Eastern…and then it was changed later.

Since FIRST can’t work around our prom schedule, I hope to be on prom commitee next year so we can schedule around that this year. I was a sophomore this past year, but I would have had a date. Next year, I hope to take someone so I hope I don’t miss it. Did it interfere with anyone elses schedule?
My junior prom was held the night of the National team party in '00. Though honestly, I coudn’t think of a better place to be than with all my friends at Nats.

Also, FIRST does take into account where Easter Sunday falls in April. We’ve been down to Florida for the National Competition around the 20 of April before because Easter fell early. FIRST tries to avoid any conflict with major holidays because they do realize that we have lives.
FIRST seems to have messed up about major holidays this year because Nationals fell right on the beginning of Passover. I suppose that was the best date they could come up with however.

Yea, that’s pretty much what we thought. Although a teacher told us exactly when the dates where about 3 months before FIRST officialy announced them and she scared all of us stiff.

**We have lives?!?!
no we dont, at least not outside of first**
FIRST doesn’t always have complete control over the dates for Nationals…remember that Disney is all about making money, and they would not schedule a FIRST tournament during a holiday…they want better paying customers than us!
