2004 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

maybe the fox news lady wont break our bot this year :frowning: :ahh:

Kenā€¦Iā€™m so glad to see that you will be at IRI again this year! In addition to doing an OUTSTANDING job with scoring, I had a great time getting to know you last year!

We wanted to get IRI dates out there so people could get the dates on their calendar. With the number of teams that are interested in coming, we thought it would be good to post early!

Good luck to everyone!

When will we get a confirmation about the dates and updates on indianafirst.org? We are looking forward to the IRI. :stuck_out_tongue:

The dates/ location etc are confirmed in this post and will be July 9 & 10th. I hope to be able to update IndianaFIRST.org in the very near future. But that likely wonā€™t be able to happen until after nationals and when the IRI Committee starts having their meetings on a regular basis. We will keep you updated on all announcements concerning the IRI :]

Hopefully after this FIRST season, weā€™ll do some minor retooling and work on the IndianaFIRST site to post more information on the IRI.

I encourage tons of teams to come - and kids, if your teams canā€™t come, bring yourselves! IRI is a wonderful, energetic atmosphere and great competitionā€¦ come out and have some fun!

matt- the fox lady isnā€™t touching this robot

Team 447 will be there.

I heard a rumorā€¦Scott is cooking???

Can I assume it will contain trace amounts of beef? :yikes:

I think mike walker is either:
A: Stealing My Car
B: Stealing Me
C: Stealing 1083ā€™s robot
D: All of the above

SO it looks like i might be going this year. A bunch of us on 1083 are probably wanting to go, maybe you will get a florida bot there?

For clarityā€¦ the correct answer is D.

@#@#@#@# suxxors for me and my carā€¦but the robot, it loooooves going for drives.

Yeah word has it Scott is grillinā€™ outā€¦but heā€™s only grillinā€™ veggieburgers cause those are his favorite.

Team 1083 will be making the trip from Orlando in an RV! We are sooo excited about this; We will be traveling up in a 35 foot RV and we are really excited about that as well. We hope we can register for this, does any one know when the registration opens, and how much it will be?

Thanks!
Nathan Pell

Details are not out yet about that, but stay tuned for on the forums and on IndianaFIRST.org!!! :]

269 will proabably be there again, and if we are I will be the first one to register again!!

I am trying to arrange our first planning meting right around the Championships. Look for more details by the end of April.

iā€™m going to bug gregory (my advisor) to register 1089 to go, but weā€™ll see if that happens. Either way myself and our programmer neil will be there. hopefully aignam and kimr too.

You heard right Scott is cooking the meal and beef is on the menu. I was thinking I could post pictures of the four possible cows that are in line to pay the ultimate price for the IRI and we could vote for which will be invited to dinner with us. Maybe we could assign a cow to certain IRI teams and the one that is with the lost seeded team would take the trailer ride. I am sure this would increase robotic spirit in the pasture field. I can honestly say that the cows have a lack of spirit when it comes to robotics and this could be the cure all.

Just kidding
(I am the cook though)

The students, mentors, and teachers are all on board, and Team 48 would love to attend the IRI again this year if we are given the chance to register.

Scott, do you think I could pass as a 17 year old kid (please refer to disturbingly ugly photo above)? I'd love to get a chance at driving our robot in a somewhat organized scrimmage against the other IRI teams. Our drivers, Frank and Paco, have had too much fun this year - I think it would be great to let all the mentors take their bots for a spin. Maybe we can all sneak into LNHS at 3 AM and head out to the playing field for a battle royale? One can dream, can't he? :-)

Could you imagine an all mentors round after we put the kids to bed? We can only dream though. I can view you as a kid but the 17 thing is a little tuff. Anyways if we were in there at 3am the robot elves would be all honked off if we interrupted their tournament. You know those elves, we wouldnā€™t want to honk them off now would we or we couldnā€™t get our robots built in six weeks. Without having that overnight elf help what would we all do?

You mean David Kelly right?? :]

Maybe there could be matches of teamā€™s mentors going up against each other?? 4 adults per team, and itā€™d be interesting this year w/ the human player factor
