2004 IRI Music Thread

It’ll be here sooner than we think, so let’s start the planning now. I’ve looked back at last year’s IRI Music Thread and have many of those songs already. Really I’m just looking for anything new or interesting that you wanna hear! (As long as it’s appropriate)

Let the requests begin! :]

THE COMPLETE WILLIAM HUNG COLLECTION!!!

Oh God NOOOOO!

I don’t think it’s original, but make sure to play 867-5309. It’s the song that reminds me of FIRST for some reason, and the DJs at the events I went to never had it!

Also, please play The Final Countdown in the finals. Another that I requested at all 3 regionals and nobody had.

Oh, and Brim Full of Asha by Cornershop and Shook Me All Night Long…good ones!

You go tto find the cheese-head parody of the song “I’m a loser baby, so why don’t ya kill me?”. Play that for the WI teams (especially for team 93).

Some R&B at least?

Hey Mama - Black Eyed Peas

(I’ll probably make a lot of posts like this in this thread, forgive me, but I’ll keep adding songs as I think of them.)

Any/All George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic
Strongbad - The Sytem is Down (PM me if you want the version off the CD, 1:46), Trogdor (1:39), and The Cheat is Not Dead (3:02)
ALL Presidents of the United States of America
Catch 22
Interpol
The Avalanches
The Sounds
Crystal Method

That’s all I care to come up with right now.

edit: AND THE DARKNESSSS!!!

I dont mind just as long as theres not much country and a couple of songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Well, I’m not big on R&B and Country… which means you guys gotta tell me what’s hot and what’s not

And don’t worry, I own the Homestar Runner CD  I think we could fit in a Trogdor or an Everybody to the Limit in somewhere.

Also, posting both the artist and the title of the song would be quite helpful.

Sometime… when I get a sufficient amount of songs compiled, I’ll create a playlist and post it on here.

Well I’d suggest any good, upbeat, DDR songs, especially if you have the extended versions. Here are some other songs I think would be good for IRI:

Beastie Boys - Sabotage
Guns n Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
Tenacious D - Tribute
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
Devo - Whip It
Kenna - Freetime
Maroon 5 - This Love
The Clash- I Fought the Law
The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
David Bowie - Let’s Dance
The Doors - Break on Through
The Fixx - One Thing Leads to Another
Queen - Another one bites the dust (during elimination matches haha)

that’s all I can think of for now.

Ohh, well I have some artists, but there’s a lot of songs to choose from though… heres come…

Beyonce Knowles
Alicia Keys
Usher
Jay-z
Kanye West
…more coming when I think about them.

Ohh yeah! Don’t forget about the Cha-Cha slide and all that. It’ll be fun dancing around. Hehehe.

I remember a couple years ago…I think at the 2002 IRI, I was taken aback when I heard some bhangra coming out of the speakers. Let’s do that again! (hehe, it was a little amusing/strangely heartwarming to watch non-Indians dance to it.)

Also, Coldplay never hurts…I’ve always wanted to have Radiohead/Optimistic or Radiohead/The National Anthem played during a round.

And Lord of the Rings stuff would be crazy cool, especially around the finals where you can make the music really intense and hardcore!

Finally, there is always Eye of the Tiger.

Jay Z (prod Dj Danger Mouse) - Encore

Incase you don’t know, this is from the Grey Album, which is Jay-Z’s Black Album mixed with samples from the Beatle’s White Album. Made infamous through Wildstang’s teaser this year, this is one of the songs I kept listening to right before 461 hit the field for finals.

EDIT: Baj is correct, Eye of the Tiger, and the Rocky theme are neccasary. Oh, and can’t forget Kool and the Gang - Jungle Boogie.

Time to Start- Blue Man Group
Rock Star- NERD
Channel Surfin- Feature Cast
Clocks- Coldplay

Oh, and Vengaboys is a great pick! In particular, “We Like To Party”,“Boom Boom Boom” and “Up and Down”

I hear us rednecks in Indiana don’t care for too much Technomusic and they are tempted to bring their trusty shootin’ rifles if we do hear the Techno :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously guys, lets try to balance the music…nobody wants an all Techno weekend.

My suggestions:

  • LO FIDELITY ALLSTARS - Battleflag (Ill get you the edited version)
  • Stabbing Westward- Save Yourself (Same thing again w/ edited version)
  • Filter- Hey Man Nice Shot
  • Guns’N’Roses- Paradise City
  • Guns’N’Roses- Welcome to the Jungle
  • Jane’s Addiction- Just Because
  • Tommy Tutone- 867-5309(Jenny) - I agree with Paul!
  • Morris Day & The Time - Jungle Love
  • U2 -Elevation (maybe as award music…works nice)
  • U2- Desire
  • Vanilla Ice- Ninja Rap :stuck_out_tongue: (my personal favorite :p)

I like your taste in music. Especially the last one. “Go ninja go ninja go!” awesome song by an excellent artist :stuck_out_tongue:

Eye of the tiger…it was already suggested, but it is awesome.

others…
Marron 5 - Not Coming Home
If I could walk 10,000 miles (i forget the band, dire straits?)
Chevelle - Send the Pain
I’ll edit this post an put some more up when i get home!

I belive it was If I could walk 500 Miles by The Proclaimers

As for other songs I would like to hear…

311 - Down, and Beautiful Disaster. You could play these during lunch breaks so people can calm down a bit from everything they have seen.

ABBA - Dancing Queen, Just because.

ACDC - Thunderstruck, Back in Black, TNT

Aerosmith - Livin’ on the edge, Dream on, Sweet Emotion.

Al Hirt - Green Hornet Theme <— Really Fast trumpet playing good for getting the blood flowing.

Alkaline Trio - Hell Yes, We’ve had enough

Anything by Antiloop, Yay for European Techno.

I’ll Do the B’s tomorrow
