2005 RC Master Code

I’ve been trying to download the 2005 RC Master Code and got to an error page.
I downloaded the 2005 RC User Default Code and I want to know if I need the 2005 RC Master Code too?

or

I have not powered up this years controller yet but I can give you history…

There are two uC chips inside the robot controller one that you are meant to modify (user) and one that you are not (master). However, last year, IFI discovered a bug in the master processor which required them to give us a new master hex image.

I am not sure yet if the master code needs to be downloaded into the kit controller for this year. It may be a legacy for teams which have controllers from last year… As soon as I am sure, I’ll repost here. OK?

The new master code is not posted yet.

I’m thinking we’ll need to give FIRST et al a few days to smooth this out. Read the docs and be content.

Here is the link for the master code: http://www.ifirobotics.com/docs/master-software-ver10.zip. I found it at the bottom of http://www.ifirobotics.com/rc.shtml

The link is broken.
What are the differents between the Master Code and the User Default Code?

Or

As I stated earlier, the Master code is for the master processor and the User code is for the user processor.

You get source code for the user processor which you can modify.

You get a HEX file (no source code) for the master processor which is not modifiable by us. We just load it into the controller if IFI asks us to.

Huh. I can’t access any of Innovation First’s site from my school (firewalled) - is it down?

Scott

Works for me.

The new (2005) controller does not need to be updated. It comes with the new firmware on it. The 2004 controller does need to be updated if you want to use it in conjunction with this years robot. I do not know what changed, or if it is truly critical, but I would suggest doing it. It only takes 20 seconds.

And remember to have the operator interface teathered when you update the firmware, since it gets updated too.
