If anyone from outside the area is coming to the UTC New England Regional and has any questions, please feel free to PM me and I can try and get answers for you… like good places to eat, stay, etc.
I’d recommend taking some advice, it’s really difficult to find anything fun to do in the Hartford Area
erin = local CT resident and not exactly proud of it (NH is way better)
I take offense to that! well… not really, but if it was summer I may… lake compounce baby.
That’s not really considered the Hartford area… now is it?
Anyways, as I have said in a post long ago… THIS MOVIEis opening the weekend of UTC so, Kathie, maybe you can hook up some visitors from out of state to UTC of an address of a closeby Movie theater? The only one I can think of off hand that I have been to is in East Hartford near Silver Lane.
There as to be a closer one though, right?
And… for more talk on CD about the movie, click HERE.
Isn’t there an annual FIRST bowling night during UTC?
Unofficial… and yes.
Last year 121 spanked a bunch of us in bowling on Friday night I believe it was - could have been Thursday maybe… I don’t remember.
Who gets a five-bagger… seriously?
If anyone wants to get together with RAGE or come over to our practice facility we are located approx. 5 minutes from the venue by car…
RAGE will be producing a guide to the area and posting it to our website soon. Well, as soon as I can get it together!
AND we will soon start to organize our second annual tailgating party. We are thinking of expanding it to include some hot foods this year (after seeing what other teams did at other regionals last year) but will probably ask for help from other local teams to pull it all together. If you are coming to the UTC Regional please mention it to your teams and then e-mail me if you are interested in helping out.
Fun things to do in CT?
I guess you could always, umm, gee. You’ve stumped me.
Just kidding, we’ve got great malls. And some movie theatres. And umm, did I mention we have malls?
I’ll see if I can get a RAGE bowling team together. If there’s one thing we do better than big arms, it’s bowling.
is it true that you get to go to dean kamen’s house if win the new england regional???
that’s what i heard
well there is no more “New England” regional as there is 2 regionals in New England…
I will be as well as a teamate or 2 will be attending UTC early friday morning for both friday and saturday of competition =D
I should be showing up on Saturday at some point, trying to find a train that leaves early enough for me to get up there and volunteer. If i cant, ill get up there later and just be hanging around. Look for me in my team 25 get up. Ill be scouting and just chilling around. Bharat may be coming as well, we still have to figure it all out.
I might show up at UTC…but it is a big might. It is at the end of my spring break and most all of my friends have spring break a week or two later, so I probably won’t be doing anything. I would need to find somewhere to stay very cheap (if not possibly free). I won’t know till we ge much closer to the event if I will be showing up or not.
I’ll try to get the guide to the area done ASAP, and include some hotels nearby that are inexpensive.
Hmm… FIRST still calls this one the UTC New England Regional, and the other one the BAE SYSTEMS Granite State Regional…
Gee Greg, You could always escort them to the Trolley Museum…
You can also drive by Lake Compounce and stare at the brand new lazy river for 2005 and my love, Boulder Dash :o
We’re planning the tailgating party now… but we are soliciting help from other local teams this year so we can expand our food choices. I hope to get an e-mail out to teams who will be attending the UTC regional this week. Please share this with your teams - several teams commented last year that they didn’t know about it in advance. We had lots of fun last year, including a race between a segway and Dean… at least, it looked like Dean! And who can forget eating our birthday cake out of the back of the pickup truck?
Who: anyone who comes to the UTC New England Regional
What: Second Annual Tailgating Party (it’s a tradition now)
When: Saturday, March 12, 2005 Sunrise (OK, maybe a little after sunrise)
Where: Meadows Music Theatre parking lot
Why: Because RAGE likes to party
For more info, PM or e-mail me.
Invitations went out this week to all leaders for teams attending the UTC New England Regional. We’re looking for some help from other teams. Please be sure your team leader gets back to us with headcount if you’re planning to join us this year for the tailgating breakfast… we had too much extra food last year! Either that or come with a bigger appetite. If there’s anything you’d really like to see us provide for breakfast (within reason), let me know.
Looking forward to seeing you all on March 12.
