2006 Lone Star Regional

So who’s all gettin pumped and ready for the Lonestar Regional? 1902 is gonna be there and we are ready for a great competition! I noticed that there are like 18 rookie teams going to be there, thats A TON!! Where is everyone staying in the area?

I’m staying at home!

Ah the joys of a hometown regional. Seriously, though, we’ve got some interesting things planned as usual. Any one who’s previously attended will have some idea of what I’m talking about. Also, I’m pleased to see all the mainstays returning, especially 364. Expect some loud, crazy, very bright orange people in the stands.

Basically, we’ll see you guys here. I’ll especially be looking out for ya, what with the rookie all-star and attending two regionals in your rookie year.

After a year off from FIRST, 704 is looking to make a strong comeback.

Home town for us too! Even though it’s our third year, new sponsors and only 1 returning student makes us virtual rookies  Saw you Oinkers tearing it up already, looking forward to seeing you guys!

418 will be there in full force. I’d like to give a welcome to all the rookie teams in particular. Come on by and say hi, and I know I speak for everyone on our team when I say I’m looking forward to seeing and playing with you all.

I will be out there with 1902, only competition i will probably attending. I hope i picked the right one!

I’m so excited about next week! I think we are staying at the Holiday Inn-Astrodome at Reliant Park where we stayed last year. I hope to see a few teams there.

Good Luck everyone!

1745 will be there! Glad to know that team 364 is able to attend despite the hurricane!!!

Team Blarglefish will be back, ready to rumble. We’ll be staying at home, since the competition is only about 30 minutes away. We’ve got a lot of new faces on our team this year, so it should be fun for them. The event should be tons of fun. Oh, and the robot stuff should be a blast too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Rookie team 1742 will be there!! We’re pumped and can’t wait to get down there! I hope to meet as many of you guys as I can, so if you happen upon 1742’s pit, stop on in and say hi!

Anyone know the link to the lone star webcast?

just go to robotics.nasa.gov there’s a link to the FIRST webcasts on the front page, and the LSR link will show up on thursday when the webcast starts

I believe this event has the most gulf-coast teams participating that were affected by the hurricanes last year. Good luck to these teams. You inspire all of us.

Well 1902 is getting ready to take Houston by storm, we fly in tom. afternoon and baring no lost shipping can’t wait to compete on Thursday lol.

Can’t wait to see you all there!

Team 1888 will be there were staying at the Holiday Inn. We are one of the rookie teams. We have a 12:30 curfew and are all lookin to meet some new people so if anyone else is stayin in that hotel come stop by our pit and say hello mabye we can hang out after the competition. Look for me (Mike Chenault) one of the two drivers. Im lookin foward to meeting everyone around.

Welcome to Houston all you out of towners and it’s good to see the rookies! Weren’t the Brazilians rookies last year? Gave us all a run for our money!

Team 499, Toltechs, will be back for our sixth season.

We have a picture database of just less than half of the robots on our website.

You will find the LSR robot pictures in the '06 Innovations page with a link at the bottom of that page.

Suprisingly missing is team 57
Hard drive crash, ya that’s the ticket

APS

624 Cryptonite will be there, green spiked hair and all! We’re really looking forward to it as we consider the Lone Star to be our “home-town” competition.

By the way, anyone who is interested in getting their hair spiked up for the competition just needs to stop by our pit. You can get your hair spiked, and get a pin saying “My hair was spiked by 624”

See y’all there!

57 isn’t there because of the whole “Oh no the robot isn’t finished we’re doomed no we don’t have time for pictures” thing. Heh. We’ve plans for quickly fixing the slew of minor problems we were having in michigan, however, so we should be putting on a much better showing.

Also, fear 624. as far as I know, they were the only team to actually get the vision tetra on the center goal in autonomous. They only missed immortality because the darned thing didn’t settle enough to count. I fully expect them to be autonomously targetting opposing robots and taking them out with poof balls aimed at power switches. Or something similarly impressive.

Team 1817 will be there and will hope to have a STAMP or FSN Scouting Database on wifi (g/b) open to everyone or come by and ask for a printout.

Also come by our pits and check out our Promotional video which features a time lapse of the last 5 days of us building our robot.

Finally we are taking bunch of X-Boxes and maybe a few DLP Projectors. We will be staying at the Holiday INN Astrodome and hope to get something going with some other teams.

Now its time for me to pack up drive 8-9 hours to H-Town
