For the Vids!
I would like to extend my congratulations to all who participated in the SBPLI regionals.
I would like to extend my congratulations even more to all the teams in the finals and to 870, 271, and 358 for winning it.
However, I would like to especially recognize team 1468 for being the deciding factor on the 329, 353, 1468 alliance. I said it to one member of your team and I would like to make it publicly known that your actions in the last seconds of the the tied match 3 was absolutely heroic and the reason for the tie. If there was a highlight reel for that regional, you would definitely be the #1 video.
I assume 1468 is a second year team? Gotta love to see you guys competing with some of the best established teams in the northeast.
Congratulations to 514 for winning Chairman’s Award, and thanks to 329, 353 and 1468 for an intense Finals. Thanks to 271 and 870 for being with us at the end.
Also congratulations to all the MVPs chosen by their teams.
and to echo others - third match was a tie, fourth match was replayed because we lost autonomous mode, the computer said we won. So a field mishap created the fifth match.
Specifically I was.
358, first seed (11-1-0), picked 271 as our first pick then 870 as our second pick.
870, Southold was with us last year too.
Also our shooter never actaully broke - it was just jammed and had positioning problems from a slipping potentiometer.
Its a good thing it ended when it did - we were starting to run low on batteries! :ahh:
Actually we’re a 3rd year team. Either way we had a great year considering all the hardships we went through. McArthur was the only other Rookie team when we joined. A bit sad that they started the grants/scholarships for the Rookie award teams right AFTER we got all 3 Rookie awards.
Can anyone please post the Volunteer of the Year and Woodie Flowers Award recipients names please? The FIRST website information is incomplete.
Thanks.
Pat Hughes of Team 514 won the Woodie Flowers award this year. The most deserving mentor there in my opinion. He works hard for the kids in both the FRC and FLL programs as well as related areas.
Frank and Joan Saracino were joint winners of the Volunteer of the Year award.
Hey I’m Scotty aka elmo from team 564. This year’s robot has been all about KISS (keep it simple stupid). We were going to use the suction cup on our forklift, but pneumatics board was to heavy so we had to scrap it and now we just have a hook that I hope works, but we got our forklift work. This year we also have a ramp. Does anybody else?
