Wow, a full event! That’s AWESOME guys!! Sounds like it’ll be lots of fun

I can hardly wait

I love beantown! I’ve gone for two years now. Unfortunately, our team is having trouble finding an available bus that will go out of state…:frowning: For some reason everything is all booked that weekend… Maybe we can hook up with another team and split their bus, or something else… idk, thats for the admin people to figure out :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope to be there!
Jacob

I noticed on the schedule that the mentor matches are listed after alliance selection. Does this mean that the mentor matches do not count towards seeded standings like they did last year?

Thanks,

Rob

Tentatively they do not count towards seeded standings. We were going to do this to give teams a chance to get strategy worked out, and have it as more of a goof type thing instead of an actual competition thing.

note i said tentatively

I’m super curious! There’s only a few more weeks until the competition, and the rules changes for IRI and Battlecry have both been announced. What are these Golden Tubes that you’re introducing for Beantown!? :ahh:

You will see them by the weekend…

ANNOUNCING THE 2007 BEANTOWN BLITZs GAME CHANGE RULES:

The “Golden Tube”: The field at the beantown blitz will be the same as the normal 2007 FIRST game “rack n’ roll”. However, we will be adding 2 additional spider legs on the side of the field located opposite the scoring table. These additional spider legs (2) will be located outside of the field, with the spiders ‘foot’ approximately flush with the edge of the field.

The legs will be located at the center of the field, approximately 5 feet apart. There will be a red spider leg and a blue spider leg. The red will be located on the side of the field closest to the blue home zone, and the blue will be located on the side of the field closest to the red home zone. These legs will be approximately the same height as the middle row, and will be on chains and able to swing like the normal rack. Now what do we do with these 2 additional spider legs???

The winner of autonomous mode, meaning, the alliance that scores more keepers than their opposing alliance, will have the “golden tube” placed inside of their drivers station, approximately in the same location the spoilers are located. What to do with the tube is up to the discretion of the alliance. However, this tube will be worth a bonus 25 points for the alliance whose leg holds the golden tube.

The golden tube CANNOT be spoiled, however it can be removed, and placed on the other bonus spider leg. The golden tube can be entered onto the field at anytime.

IN THE EVENT that no alliance wins autonomous, meaning each alliance scores or doesnt score the same amount of keepers, the golden tube will be placed on the ground, near the side of the field, approximately centered between the red and blue player stations. This will happen with approximately 1:00 left in the match.

The golden tube is just like any other game piece, meaning it cannot be grabbed by 2 or more robots at the same time.

We hope that everyone will enjoy our game change at the 2007 Beantown Blitz. Questions…comments…anything, please express your opinions freely.

disclaimer: there is a possibility that the scoring system will not allow for a 25 point bonus to be inputed…if this does happen we have a back up plan, but for sanity’s sake we will not cross this road until we come to it…meaning we’ll inform everyone at the blitz…HOWEVER, the additional spider legs will not change in size or location, and the golden tube will remain the same

See everyone at the 2007 Beantown Blitz!

Which position will these spider legs be? (top, middle or bottom) And will they be on chains like a regular spider leg, or will they be stationary?

EDIT:

Thanks!

Jacob

UPDATED…hope it helps

Well the countdown at the top of chiefdelphi doesn’t lie…the 2007 BEANTOWN BLITZ is just about 2 days away. Here a few notes for teams attending:

  1. If you haven’t already…please inform us (the planning committee) on approximately how many people on your team will be eating lunch with us. Every team at the BEANTOWN BLITZ gets 10 free lunches!! So we’re trying to estimate how much food should be prepared.

  2. If you haven’t already seen (previously discussed in this thread) the 2007 BEANTOWN BLITZ will have a game change. It is known as
“The Golden tube” details can be found here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57341&highlight=Beantown+Blitz

  3. This ones important! ALL TEAMS, please bring not only your 2007 robot radio, but your 2007 operator interface radio as well!! Chances are, you will not use it, but we’re asking all teams to bring theirs! Thanks in advance.

  4. The beantown blitz has a unique way of loading and unloading robots/pits/supplies as some may remember from previous years. An email will be sent out to all teams shortly that includes details of what you are going to do when you come to drop off your robot on saturday morning. PLEASE LOOK FOR THIS EMAIL IT IS IMPORTANT!!

We have a lot of good things planned this year at the 2007 BEANTOWN BLITZ! It is sure to be a great event, and we look forward to seeing EVERYONE there on saturday!!

I’ll be there!!!

  • This saturday marks my Triumphant Return to the world of FIRST robotics… That’s right i’m back to make available my FIRST wisdom to the world.

…It’s gonna be a big day

well im off to go help setup the field…i hope everyone is ready for the blitz

I am way more than ready! We’ll be bringing our best game tomorrow.

If you guys can recognize me from my WAI pic, then say hi! I’ll be wearing our team shirt and most likely pants lined with tie-dye.
Woot!

Ready? Ready for what? I’m s’pposed to be what?!?!? Head Judge? When did I say I’d do that?!?!?

All,

As a late entry into the Blitz, I will be brining by a TALON robot for demos. Also, this just in - Foster-Miller recently acquired another small robot company (Automatika) who makes the Dragon Runner. I will also have one of these for show and tell. Be sure to find my booth, stop by, and say “hi”! You might even get to drive the TALON!

~Jake

Thanks to Team 181 and 88 for a great set of finals matches.

Thanks to team 125 for sponsoring this event again, it is always a good time.

Here is a link video of the longest putt executed during a timeout in F.I.R.S.T history.

What was the results of the event (y’know, things like elimination alliances, elimination results, awards ect.).

What an awesome event! Thank you team 125 for sponsoring, and all the volunteers for making it so great.

A huge thanks has to go to our alliance partners! 181- Thank you for picking us! I’m glad you could see past our rather poor record for the day. (And ya’ll deserved that spirit award) 348- You guys played some excellent defense.
Thank you for helping 88 win our first FRC event since (by my records) 1998!

The crowd sometimes seemed like it needed a little coffee, though. Even my normally spirited team was quiet. I turned around at one point to see the MC there, asking us to get a chant started or something to break the silence! We’ll have to wake up a bit before BattleCry.

I recognized a few CD posters there, but was too shy to say ‘hi’. :o
