Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa… Screeeeeeech, let’s stop this truck before it gains too much speed.

  1. If you are holding a grudge against your team for something that purportedly happened years ago, I invite you to PM the team and communicate with them privately.
  2. 1038 competed with the utmost of class and skill at both regionals we’ve attended. Both as partners and as opponents, they’ve been absolutely wonderful to work with.
    *]Please don’t use this thread (or any thread) as a place to mention specific teams committing specific examples of “not-so-nice” defense. We know they still unfortunately occur from time to time, but this is not the place to single teams out. Please handle each indiviual matter discreetly and directly with the parties involved. I’ve been known to let my emotions get the better of me at times at events, and I sometimes deeply regret saying things in public that are better left for more private conversations…
    Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…

can someone plz explain what koko ed meant by 63 being pulled from the competition? They got a yellow card during the seeding matches, but other than that i didnt see anything else that happened to them. BTW, whats up witht he yellow cards at buckeye, i didnt see any yellows before then, and then there was 2 almost right after each other.

I know one involved a human player reaching through the tube chute in frustration to remove a stuck ringer from their arm (team number intentionally suppressed). The refs handled that well, I thought.

Team 63 played was scheduled to play with us (1714) in our last match on Friday (1714). We knew they had a yellow card from the field (for aggressive play I believe?), but when we went to strategize with them, they told us they had received a second yellow card after two random inspections and had been booted from the competition. There seemed to be a lot of confusion in and around their pit. Their robot was a double lifter robot that stayed folded up. If something got bent and was out of place for a few matches in the starting configuration, thats one thing. I didn’t see too many places that robot could be bent though. They had passed inspection and I’m not sure what the random inspections were being used to check.

After they told us they were out, we prepared for a 2v3 match. When we were out on the field queuing, they came out with 2 matches to go and said they were being allowed to play, but weren’t entirely sure what was going on. They played with us and played excellent defense to get us a win.

The next morning they played with my other team, 1675, and everything seemed to be well.

Thats all I know of the situation, and its just from an outsider’s brief point of view…so I have no idea if any of that is accurate.

This happened at Midwest as well, but to my knowledge, no yellow card was issued. Which ruling is correct?

I apologize for the triple post, but its three separate issues.

I am concerned with the field at Buckeye. People have noticed that the rack was easier to move than at other events. I’m not sure what could cause this, since that thing is quite heavy. Not a big deal though. What does concern me was how it was set up. The base plate was not placed correctly, which dictates where the chains are supposed to sit (between the black tape on the edges of the plate). Because the plate was placed 45 degrees from where it should be, the rack, when properly placed based on the chains, was 45 degrees off of normal position. This has no effect for normal gameplay, but for autonomous, it puts the lights at the “corners” instead of parallel with the sides of the field. There were matches when the lights did face the sides, so the chains were not being paid attention to anyway.

The other concern is the fact that the bonus points were measured with a tape measure instead of the stick that FIRST provides and 4" and 12" pieces that I believe the event may provide. In this application, where the tape may be held at an angle or may be viewed at an angle, it is not an accurate way to measure. I have no idea if this affected the outcome of any matches, but it strikes me as odd that it even occurred.

I noticed this aswell, i wasnt sure if it was just me or not. Also, the refs do not spin the rack after every match, this was the case at GLR aswell. it only moved maybe half of the time during the elims.

i wanted to say congrats to the winning alliance. You were a great alliance to compete against!!!

To 1528 and 1038-AWESOME job. with 1528 not working throught the finals we still put up a great fight!!! Both of your teams were great to work with!!!

Great job to all the other teams as well.

The Buckeye Regional was amazing! It was my first time there and was such a great experience. I wanted to say congratulations to the winning alliance. I also wanted to say thanks to 1038 and 1528 for being such great alliance partners. Also great job X-cats…you proved that you guys have a great bot once again! Everyone going to Atlanta in a couple of weeks…Good Luck and cya there!

They are both correct. Some rules allow for yellow cards to be added for repeated and/or egregious breaking of the rule. The specifics of each situation likely made the diffrence in one getting a yellow card.

Courtney I wish someday we can actually have all 3 Xerox teams on the same alliance for once. We’ve never ever been paired up - not even once. (Not even during the Ruckus…Maybe we should just have a FF match at the Ruckus this year)

Well in my mind we’re all in the same family anyways - 1126 and 1450 all had mentors that came from 191 anyways. I helped start both teams so I’m partial even though I am on 191. But then again I have a little tie with most teams in Rochester somehow. That’s what I love about Rochester First teams…we’re relatively a tight group of teams.

This is a match from the quarter finals at the Buckeye. This is one of the many matches with heavy defense. I have been in the Buckeye the last 5 years and anybody who has been to the Buckeye knows that its one of the defensive regionals. Heres the match that I liked out of all of them. We had a defensive strategy and we had robots on top of us and we took a couple shots to the arm.
