It’s the formula FIRST uses (line up the teams by number and count 1,2,3,4. Divide them up by that an repeat.) There will be an additional 125 to 150 teams added to the mix. It’s just a weekly FIRSTgeek thing to do betwwen competitions.
how exactly do all of these teams qualify to go to nationals before even going to the regional? I know that if you win chairman’s, then you get to go to nationals forever, but how else are all of these veteran teams already guaranteed a spot?
KoKo, you are always thinking slightly outside the box. Has anyone ever done a “Fantasy Robotics” game? You sound like the man to do it.
Good luck to everyone this year.
Based on previous years and the little info we’ve seen this year, I’ve gotta disagree and say Curie is tops. Curie is loaded (Beatty, 'Stang, and the Poofs in the same division two years in a row!?!).
Has there been any indication that the divisional assignment criteria will be the same as in previous years? I know last year we came up with several possible alternatives: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44782
The problem with 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4 is that teams like HOT and Trucktown Thunder can never be in the same division, because their team numbers are consecutive. A serpentine assigment (1-2-3-4, 4-3-2-1) wouldn’t solve that. But a random draw from groups of teams (1-100, 101-200, etc) could.
Not to mention PINK, RUSH, Chief Delphi, The Frog Force and that one team from Bloomfield Hills that builds some of the best bots in the world the Las Guerrillas (Man Michigan Teams are Good:D ). I can understand why he would say Archimedes however. Raider Robotix, the T-Kats, Thunder Chickens, More Martians, Simbotics, Miss Daisy, RAGE, The Huskies and MOE are all very amazing teams.
If I were to rank them right now I would go
CURIE
ARCHIMEDES
GALILEO
NEWTON
That means I am ruling out Curie to win the championship. I think I would pick Newton to win it all because they are the least likely. I know it sounds backwards but that is what I am thinking.
this was the case for Newton last year (Beatty, Satngs, Poofs and many others) and yet Archimedes won out. That’ll still going to be one heck of a division if it stays like that.
They might to let members of the GM & UTC blocks play together. I want a new format, I’m tired of not being able to play with Wildstang and the Robonauts!
FIRST would rather have established legendary teams play with the newer less established teams so they can be inspired by working with them instead of letting those all star teams work together and run through the championship like a hot knife through butter.
I hope they get jostled around so 45,71 and 111 can be on the same field again. Regardless it looks pretty good this way, but with 125-150 teams more they can really become more/less strong.
Right now, Curie is stacked. I’m emphasizing right now because so many other teams are on the waitlist for the event and probably will get in as soon as registration opens up again.
Both Curie AND Archimedes are stacked. And nobody mentions Archimedes (25, 45, 56, 70, 122, 173, 178, 217, 341, 365, 401, 1114, 1218, 1503, 1511, and 1731). And that’s just the beginning.
Sure, you have Buzz, Pink, Wildstang, and the Poofs among others in Curie, but you have two teams (Buzz and the Poofs) that are going to be distracted by all the visitors.
To be honest, the divisions all look equally tough and it’s going to be really tough for any 1 division to come out a winner.
