Hehe, I dont know exactly where it came from but, if I remember correctly, my team and 955 were having those spirit fights at PNW also.
I think the Fembots started it a few years back. We do it a lot at school for homecoming rallies, so I guess some of our alums decided to bring it to FIRST some years ago…
Our team came up with a new one this year:
“We’ve got hats, yes we do, we’ve got hats, how bout you!” [Point at a team w/o hats]
We totaly stumped 1359 and 995 with that one!
I don’t mean to burst your bubble, well OK, yes I do. It is not new.
We did that exact chant back when I was in High School. I graduated in 1979. You do the math.:ahh:
the math says…you’re as old as me!
Ah yes, I remember that, I almost laughed out loud when you guys did that, I was right in the middle of that exchange.
We had our own chants, took them from the rallies back at school too:
MVRT! How do you feel!?(one asks)
We feel good! Oh we feel so good, OH!
We were more spirited than usual at this regional:D
Heres my favorite:
“There aignt no flys on us,
There aint no flys on us,
there might be fly on some of you guys,
but
THERE AINT NO FLYS ON US”
… maybe thats just me
We have hats! We have a hat of the same design as your’s but it’s black and has a jolly roger on it. We also gave out pirate hats as our awards.
-to team 100- message me with your mailing info and we could send you one of those awards, we tried to give it to you at the regional, but we must have forgotten.
No love for a “Blowing Bubbles” award?
I have to admit, most of my other team didn’t find Davis as fun as SVR, I thought it was better. Especially with 1351 and 1072 (and me) joining in on the spirit chant then switching sides randomly, plus all the dancing.
It’s been in use in summer camps since the inception of summer camps.
I liked Davis a lot better than SVR it was a lot friendlier and more fun environment (and we won… that helps)
Ha. I do agree. Davis is more of a goofy regional therefore it’s much more fun. SVR is a bit more competitive. The dancing was incredibly fun, such as the kickline. And we randomly switched sides for the spirit chanting because we realized we were chanting against our alliance partners for the finals. Still good fun.
The bar at the bottom of the screen may or may not be for the same match as the Final Score. They are independent of each other. Once the scoring table figured this out we tried to make sure they stayed the same, but sometimes we goofed or we had to go ahead and change the lower bar to get set up for the next match.
The lower bar has a “tab” on the top that indicates the match number. The number on the right of the tab indicates how many seconds are left in that portion of the match. It starts at 15 for automode and counts down to zero, when telemode starts it goes to 120 and counts down from there.
The Final Score screen reflects what went into the database for that match. It also says what match the score is for. If the scores on the bar and the Final screen are different, then check the match numbers, they should be different as well. Be sure to include the effects of any penalties as these are not included in the scoring bar but are in the Final Score.
It makes perfect sense once you understand it all.
Anybody find high quality video of the finals+quater finals? The one on robotics.nasa.com is the low quality webcast feed.
I’m slowly working on getting our video going, not sure of the quality (my son is new at videotaping), but should be an interesting perspective at least. I think we have all five qf1 matches, and the finals.
SOAP 108 has the quarter and semi finals up there now, they are pretty good.
WE should have ours up by Friday? maybe Saturday… but those are higher quality than the ones on SOAP.
I’m not sure if we are talking about the same thing. But I was talking about the final-score screen’s sum score. The screen listed ring scores and bonus scores then have 2 large number at the bottom to indicate the sum. The sum wasn’t what the list add up to be.
The two large numbers at the bottom with the array of dots in between are the part of the Final Score screen you should ignore. That is the “lower bar” and is used during a match to display the rack score real time. This score does not include bonuses or penalties. But it is the most visually prominent, so people often topok it to be the “real” score.
Also if the guy at the scoring table is not paying attention then it might not be displaying the rack score for the match that is being displayed at the top in the Final Score screen. It was easy to advance the lower bar to the next match or to have it up while trying to correct a score from a previous match (fumble fingered refs  ). This would result in results from two different matches being displayed simultaneously. The imporant screen is the Final Match Score screen. That is the one that has the official score for the match.
There obviously needs to be some human engineering on this part of the scoring system. The bright side is that no matter what, we will need a new scoring display next year. The scoring and field management system were so much more reliable than last year that I will gladly put up with a few minor complaints this year. Next year when 4FX has more time to focus on “peripheral” issues things should be better yet.
I put those up. I have more it just took me while to parse and just as long to upload them to SOAP. Some are being stubborn - but they’ll get there. I have most of Saturday’s matches parsed, but I’m stuck at school for Open House (it is my job afterall) and can’t get back to it until tonight.
Hang in there, we’ll get them up.
I’ve never dealt with SOAP before,
would they mind if we put up matches that were not from the big screen?
Because our scouting team is almost done with the matches they video taped, and I personally like the field overview that they did more then the big screen…
it is easier to see everything that is going on
