2007 Finger Lakes Regional!

Folks:

I am Team Coordinator for MOE 365 and had originally not planned to respond to the comments made here. I would hope that, as previously suggested, this thread get back to it’s original topic intent.

For information, I have offered to the original poster that I would gladly make myself available to her and any team members to explain how we handle the build season. I will answer any question to the best of my ability.

So, let’s move on and get back to our originally scheduled CD thread…

So anyone wanna come to the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus in October?

I tried asking this in the FLR thread about video and photos but I got no response there. Does anyone have the video of the imagery award being given out?

I will be there Ed!! and i will be on that planning committee!!! and i am attempting to recruit teams to come out and play!!!

As a member of MOE 365 I would like to thank all of you for the kind words about MOE and for sticking up for us.

kathimm1, Yes MOE dose build a very high quality robot each year, this is due to having a very high quality team. Each MOE student starts our team in Sept and from then to December each student goes through MOE University. This is where each student is trained in Mechanical, Electrical,Programing, Fund raising, Brainstorming, Web site development, Team Building activities, Proper and safe use of hand tools, machine tools and general safety in a work place and FIRST environment. Each class/ session is taught by professional engineers, teachers and other professionals in their respected fields.

This is how MOE is able to build a quality, and nice looking, robot each year.

You also mentioned out Pit. The MOE pit was build and developed in 2001-2002 and has since then has had minor additions and subtractions to it each year. The pit was build and designed by students, I can personal attest to this because I spend my 2002-2003 winter break helping rebuild parts of it. Just because MOE has a nice looking pit dose not mean we are “rich” most all of the materials for the pit and in the pit were donated by members, families and our sponsors.

MOE is a large team with about 30 students average each year and about 10-15 mentors from engineers to our boosters. Most of the adults on our team are parents or current students or alumni who come back to help the next generation of MOE students.
I am sorry if you find our team annoying, We wear bright MOE GREEN jerseys to let people know that we are there and having FUN. MOE loves toCheer and show our spirit because we love FIRST and the impact that it has on our students, families, mentors and even our sponsors and we love to support all the other great FIRST teams that worked to make it to the events.

Now to the part about us having a great robot that " we must have a professional build" It is true we do have a professional build it, about 30 of them. Each one is a professional high school student who was trained in MOE university and has help and mentoring from our mentors. MOE is student built and designed, yes we have help from our mentors but its help and guidance not just doing it for the student only trust me each year students build things that don’t work that I am positive that some of the mentors could fix for us but the only way to learn is to make mistakes and they do let us make mistakes and then get the great experence on how to fix them thats what FIRST is about, learning.

Thank you for saying that each year we have one of the best bots, I can think of lots of other great bots each year but thanks for the comment.
Also the decorations for the bot are always added on after the robot is built and is always something done just for fun. Most all of the decorations on the robot are just spray paint and cloth with stickers that anyone from any team can get made at a local print shop and buy from a local paint shop.

MOE has been around for almost 8 years now and it has taken almost 8 years to get where we are and it will take even more years to get where some of the other great teams are at right now, yes we have had some great luck by having awesome sponsors who really do value FIRST and its message and also some of the most dedicated parents and mentors that I have ever met. Each and every year we will have set backs and leaps forward just like every other team in FIRST.

If you have any more questions or comments about MOE 365 please refer to our website www.moe365.org or you can PM me, email me at kyle.a.rice@gmail.com or IM me at greenguy365 but please keep negative comments about any team or person off of CD forums so as not to make your team or your self look bad.

Team 104 is a great team, I think last year your team was a finalist at one of your regionals, I hope that in Philly this week that you can have a better idea of MOE and please stop by our pit and talk to our people to see who we are and what we really do, just don’t forget your safety glasses.

Best of luck to your team and all other teams attending Philly
-Kyle

i better see the following there from you mister:

1114,1503, 494/70, 48, 1038, 365!!! and others…:stuck_out_tongue:

What do you want me to do?
Steal thier robots?
I’ll be happy if 1591 shows this year.

Do you have a date for Rah Cha Cha Ruckus Yet?

I really want to go to the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus, I hope that MOE could go, hint, hint, cough, cough, nudge, nudge Mr.MOE.

Most likely October 27th.

I’ll be on the planning committee once again. I haven’t decide if I should save money up to pie Rees in the face again.

You hope? I go to bed praying every night they’ll come (and 1114, 25, 341, 1038, 1528, 768 and a bunch of midwestern teams).

i am sending out some fairly comprehensive and convincing arguments  (pie in the eye!!! possibly even myself:yikes: ).

raises hand

Something was mentioned to me about driving. =O

I’m excited already.

I certainly hope you guys come. I would like Jay to help us design the awards this time.

2228 will certainly be there if anyone cares. Assuming that I don’t destroy Rover sometime between now and then. Sadly, I won’t be present at the Ruckus. Darn that whole grad-u-mah-lating thing.

Well obviously we care.
It’s hard to get to 24 when the local teams don’t show up.

Jack Bauer!

Sorry, I saw the number 24 and it must’ve just been a reaction.

To be honest I’m worried about hurting Rover before now and then. I mean, we are adding some peices on that aren’t battle tested and I hear ATL is gonna be hard on D.

Unless your robot outright explodes into little tiny pieces she should be ready for the Ruckus easy.

plus u have time to fix it between Championships and Ruckus! or like 340 give ur bot away and build a Jeep Bot!
